JOB SUMMARY: Sensient Food Colors is a global leader in the development and manufacture of food colors for use throughout the world. The Field Manager role will coordinate with botanical colorant contract growers in the Philippines. The Field Manager will be based out of in any of these locations: Calabarzon, Iloilo, Palawan and General Santos City. The Field Manager will be a member of Sensient Agronomy team to accomplish the duties specified below. MAIN OBJECTIVES: Manages contract farming relationships in the region Implements standardized Sensient agronomic practices across all farms from seed to post-harvest to maximize yield in terms of pigmentation and harvest output ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with Sensient’s agronomy team Implements soil and water testing, GPS-positioning, and standardized farm record keeping across all contract farms Conducts regular farm visits across the region Implements germplasm adaptation trials, preliminary and advanced yield trials of breeding materials across the region Monitors for insects, weeds, diseases and abiotic stresses and recommends appropriate prophylactic and curative recommendations Develops innovative farming practices for optimum yield and pigment production of botanical colorants Works with other regional agronomists, consultants, academics and other researchers Collects data Writes timely and accurate field reports Amenable to 75% domestic travel EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: College level/BS degree (preferably in agriculture and related fields) 5+ years of experience in agriculture Experience with farms, familiarity with farm management, various farming practices including organic and conventional, and knowledge and experience in farm machinery and equipment Owns a valid driver’s license and demonstrated ability to drive a truck to remote farms Analytical and decision-making skills Local language and some English proficiency Ability to work independently Effective team player and ability to interact effectively with farmers Proficient computer skills Ability to work across diverse cultures SQF RESPONSIBILITY: Ensure the highest level of commitment to Safe Quality Food (SQF) in order to provide assurance that all products have been produced, prepared and handled according to the highest possible standards.
