Job Title: Agronomy Location Manager
Reports to: Agronomy Department Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt

SUMMARY:

This position is responsible to direct, promote and coordinate the location operations in a manner that will optimize Central Prairie Co-op’s market share and net savings. The manager will be promoting and supporting the co-op’s marketing strategy, sales and services of crop nutrients, crop protection products and seed; to improve the producer’s production efficiency and profitability. This position will also apply advanced crop production technologies, which are based on best management practices for profitability, efficiency and environmentally sound agriculture practices, using total farm solution principles. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and responsibilities: includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Read and follow company employee handbook.
  • Manage employees and provide direction to insure quality work to benefit patrons.
  • Interact and maintain a positive relationship with Producers to exchange crop production information that will/can be used to develop total farm plans and crop production strategies for those producers to enhance profitability.
  • Work with Agronomy Department Manager in developing and implementing marketing plans and sales programs for producers.
  • Foster new and existing marketing programs that will allow the co-op additional profit opportunities for service revenue and specialty product areas.
  • Manage products and services. Responsible for acquiring products that patrons need and maintaining margins that ensure the Cooperative’s profitability.
  • Handle problems and complaints in a producer’s field through field scouting, pest identification and determine the right control measures.
  • Oversee compliance with all Federal, State and Local Laws, Standards or inspections.
  • Responsible for compliance with all E.P.A., OSHA, Drug Testing, D.O.T., Fire Marshall and Hazardous Materials Laws. Responsible for all reporting and documentation.
  • Responsible to manage all vehicles, buildings and equipment.
  • Responsible for all safety and providing a written report to Management of all actual and potential accidents.
  • Maintain positive customer and co-employee relations skills.
  • Order necessary inventory as needed.
  • Manage all accounting functions. Responsible for all sales tickets, product pricing, monthly inventory and other accounting functions needed with the goal of maximizing the Cooperative’s profitability.
  • Prepares the various reports for the Agronomy department on an as needed basis as dictated by the Division Manager.
  • Able to use/learn software programs that are specific to Central Prairie Co-op and industry.
  • Other duties as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university; or on to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Education and/or experience in agronomic practices and computer technologies is preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interrupt documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence; via paper and/or email. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, then make comparisons. The ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job supervises the employees in the Fertilizer and Chemical Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
