Description

About EMILI
EMILI is an industry-led non-profit that works collaboratively with producers, industry, investors, and innovators to grow a sustainable and economically resilient digital agriculture industry, guided by three strategic objectives: innovation, partnership, and engagement.
We are a team of about 15 people and operate in a remote-first environment, with access to offices in Winnipeg, Manitoba, as required. We offer competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package.
About the Position
This role serves as the boots-on-the-ground and face of EMILI’s new Innovation Farms Network project across Canada. You’ll be a trusted partner to stakeholders in the Agtech ecosystem, focused on creating connectivity and increasing entrepreneurs’ probability of success with the support of the network’s programming. The role will seek, build, and manage relationships with entrepreneurs, researchers, producers, innovative mature companies, accelerators, and venture capital firms to support ecosystem success while ensuring alignment with the network’s broader strategy and adherence to our program policies. The Ecosystem Manager will promote participation in the project, manage relationships with project participants, serve as a brand ambassador for the network, and collect feedback to strengthen the program.
We’re looking for someone who loves building from the ground up—creating systems, processes, and standards where none exist. You’ll thrive here if you enjoy fast-paced iteration, are comfortable with some short-term uncertainty, and are energized by working toward a bold, long-term vision.
This role has no direct reports. The Ecosystem Manager is supported by a Network Administrator.
This position is remote within Canada. Our offices are located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and travel to the headquarters will be required approximately 3-4 times per year. In this role, overnight travel is expected approximately 30 nights per year.
Portfolio of Responsibility

The position will be responsible for:

  • Identifying and completing outreach to companies, entrepreneurs, innovators, researchers, and products that could benefit from participation in the network’s initiatives supporting the acceleration of agtech adoption in Canada
  • Promoting participation in the network’s initiatives through individual conversations with identified potential stakeholders
  • Onboarding new project stakeholders and managing stakeholder expectations
  • Managing ongoing relationships with project stakeholders, including serving as the point of contact, maintaining positive rapport between collaborators and the network, and responding to and resolving complaints and issues
  • Identifying further collaboration opportunities among stakeholders
  • Tracking and presenting key performance indicators relating to the impact of the project for reporting to organizational leadership, funders, and government
  • Tracking information about collaborators and potential collaborators in a CRM
  • Representing the network at conferences, trade shows, and industry events, including public speaking engagements
  • Identifying and coordinating participation at key North American industry events in collaboration with colleagues and external partners
  • Promoting the network to producers across Canada

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience operating in a market-facing role in the agtech, agribusiness, venture capital, and/or accelerator/incubator sectors
  • In-depth understanding of the Canadian agriculture technology and venture ecosystem, including venture capital, entrepreneurship, accelerators, and incubators
  • Existing relationships and a strong network with entrepreneurs, investors, and relevant stakeholders in the ecosystem
  • Ability to act as a strategic partner to external parties as well as internal stakeholders in the context of the network’s broader objectives to support the technology and innovation ecosystem
  • High degree of comfort and competency in public speaking, networking, and relationship building
  • Experience evaluating, negotiating, and managing partnership agreements
  • Strong judgment and decision-making, strategic and conceptual thinking, collaboration, and influence are essential
  • Confident communicator with strong analytical skills
  • Self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Passion for supporting the success of Canadian innovation, particularly in the agriculture and agtech space
  • Bilingual (English/French) language proficiency is considered an asset
  • Access to a suitable home workspace
