Description

At Six Robotics, you’re not just joining a company; you’re joining a mission to reshape the future of autonomous systems.
We’re transforming how unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) operate, making them smarter, more capable, and easier to manage. Our mission is to revolutionize unmanned systems through intelligent software solutions that are scalable, reliable, and designed for real-world impact.
As we grow, we’re building a platform that brings modern software and AI into a hardware-dominated industry, unlocking new levels of performance, flexibility, and autonomy in the air. Whether you’re driven by innovation, national impact, or meaningful tech, this is your chance to help build something that matters from the ground up.
Our flagship software platform, Valkyrie, delivers advanced autonomy and swarm technology to UAVs, enabling multiple drones to collaborate seamlessly, adapt to complex missions, and operate with greater independence. In partnership with the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI), we’re at the forefront of UAV innovation, delivering cutting-edge solutions to both government and industry.
We’re a tight-knit team of 30+ based in Oslo, combining expertise in defense, software, and AI. As a startup, we move fast, work closely, and value clarity, integrity, and teamwork in everything we do.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a curious, pragmatic engineer who thrives in greenfield environments and knows how to bring AI value into a complex real-world code base at scale. You’re energized by building foundational systems that empower others, and you’re thoughtful about what to build, why it matters, and how it scales.
You understand that real impact isn’t about enabling every shiny new tool, it’s about solving one important problem at a time really well and building outward from there. You favor clarity over complexity and care about long-term sustainability in the systems you help create.

IDEALLY, YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH:

  • Programming against LLMs or integrating them into internal developer tooling.
  • Working as a software engineer (Python experience is a strong plus, or a willingness to learn).
  • Delivering technical enablement through simplicity, documentation, training, or peer support.
  • Efficient and precise technical communication skills in English, both written and spoken.

ON THE HARD SKILLS SIDE, WE’RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS:

  • Proven experience with AI platforms, especially generative AI and LLMs.
  • The ability to configure and manage developer environments, including IDEs and plugins.
  • A strong grasp of the current AI productivity landscape, with the ability to evaluate tools critically and make informed decisions

Bonus points for:

  • Experience adapting LLMs to a specific internal codebase or domain.
  • Familiarity with self-hosted or private AI infrastructure, including CI/CD integration.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant field (we value hands-on expertise as much as formal credentials).
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

At Six Robotics, we’re building mission-critical software for high-stakes environments, and we’re doing it from scratch. To meet those demands, we’re assembling a modern tech organization where internal tooling and AI capabilities are intentionally designed to amplify engineering productivity and quality assurance.
We’re now expanding our Software Factory team with someone who can take full ownership of how we can best leverage AI assistance in software engineering. This is a greenfield role with a wide scope: you’ll help lay the foundation for how AI is used internally, from tools and workflows to team culture. Your impact will directly shape how fast and well we build the software powering our autonomous drone platform.
This isn’t a research or a typical prompt engineering role, it’s an enabler position. You’ll enable AI tools in our engineering workflows, tailor tools to our needs, and help developers adopt and use them confidently. Our focus is on optimizing long-term development velocity while avoiding typical vibe coding tech debt and ensuring a healthy and long-lived code base.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

In this role, you’ll define how AI tools and aid are applied in software engineering at Six Robotics. This is a hands-on, high-impact position where your work will directly accelerate how our engineering team builds, scales, and delivers cutting-edge autonomy systems.

You will:

  • Evaluate, select and integrate best-in-class AI tools and platforms to support internal developer productivity.
  • Configure IDEs, AI agents, and LLM integrations to align with our workflows and team needs.
  • Optimize for long-term maintainability, ensuring tools reduce, not increase, code complexity.
  • Lead workshops, training sessions, and internal knowledge sharing to enable confident AI adoption.
  • Fine-tune and deploy self-hosted LLMs adapted to our codebase and developer documentation.
  • Experiment with and implement multi-agent frameworks to support smarter, more automated development.
  • Continuously monitor the AI tooling landscape to identify high-potential tools.
  • Champion secure, responsible AI use, safeguarding IP and data.

This is your opportunity to define what “AI-powered engineering” looks like in a fast-paced, autonomy-driven environment.
