About this job
Your mission
Silbury is a software development and AI transformation company based in Fürth, Germany. We help medium-sized businesses, corporations, and the public sector not only understand artificial intelligence and digitalization but also effectively implement them in their daily operations – with our own platform, consulting, and implementation expertise. Our team currently consists of around 50 people, and we are growing. To turn ideas, strategies, and use cases into real solutions, we need people who don't just discuss AI but build it. Therefore, we are looking for an AI Engineer (all genders) who develops intelligent applications, prepares them for production, and brings them to life with us.
Your role: At Silbury, you develop AI solutions that create real added value for our customers. You work on applications that aren't just experimental, but are actually used – integrated into processes, platforms, and everyday work. You are part of the interface between technology, product, and concrete customer benefits. Together with our consulting, development, and project teams, you work to transform business requirements into robust AI solutions.
To be clear: With us, you won't be building demos that gather dust in a drawer or prototypes that no one touches after the workshop. You'll be developing AI solutions that work, can be operated, and have a real impact on the customer.
What you can expect from us:
Developing AI solutions
- You will design, develop and implement AI-based applications for our customers.
- You will work on solutions related to Large Language Models, automation, intelligent assistance systems, knowledge processing, or other practical AI use cases.
- You develop robust backends, services and interfaces to integrate AI functionalities into existing systems and processes.
- You bring new ideas to life technically - from the initial architectural design to near-production implementation.
From prototypes to productive solutions
- You're not just building proofs of concepts, but also thinking about scalability, maintainability, security, and operation.
- You evaluate models, tools and frameworks with a view to the specific use case - not according to hype, but according to suitability.
- You optimize solutions in terms of quality, performance, and usability.
- You are working on bringing AI applications to real-world environments in a reliable and transparent way.
Working together as a team to make an impact
- You will work closely with consultants, software developers, project managers and other specialist colleagues.
- You understand requirements from the customer's perspective and translate them into viable technical concepts.
- You bring technological perspectives into projects early on and help to make meaningful architectural and implementation decisions.
- You share your knowledge within the team and help to further expand our technological excellence.
Shaping the technological future of Silbury
- You contribute to technological standards, development practices, and architectural decisions.
- You monitor new developments in the AI field and assess what is truly relevant for our customers and products.
What you bring:
We're not looking for someone who just ticks a box, but a personality that fits Silbury. What's important to us:
- Experience in the development of software solutions - ideally related to AI, machine learning, data processing or intelligent assistance systems.
- Excellent technical understanding and the ability to develop clean, viable solutions from requirements.
- Experience with modern development environments, APIs, backend development and system integration.
- Interest in current AI technologies and the ability to use them pragmatically and in an application-oriented manner.
- A quality understanding that goes beyond "runs locally": You think about robustness, maintainability, safety and productive use.
- A structured work style, personal responsibility, and a desire to actually finish building things.
- Communication skills and teamwork. You don't have to be a consultant – but you should be able to think along, ask questions, and develop solutions together.
- Fluent German and English skills, both spoken and written – confident in professional communication, documentation, and teamwork.
Nice to have:
- Experience with Large Language Models, retrieval approaches, vector databases, prompt engineering, or MLOps.
- Knowledge of Python as well as modern frameworks and cloud environments.
- Experience in developing production-related AI or data applications.
- A degree in computer science, business informatics, data science, or a related field is preferred. However, if you have acquired your skills through other means and can demonstrate them, that is equally welcome.
Why you will make a big difference at Silbury.
- You work on real AI applications with a genuine use case - not on abstract research questions without a target vision.
- You work in an environment that combines consulting, technology, and implementation. This results in software that is needed – and used.
- You are developing in a company that not only thinks about AI for customers, but also builds its own technological platform.
- You will be given creative freedom, responsibility, and the opportunity to visibly influence technical decisions.
- You work with colleagues who are technically skilled and value substance over buzzwords.
- Short distances, direct communication, and projects where you can actually see the impact of your work.
Show us your vision!
