We invite you to explore the position below and to submit your application to join our team! The AI Engineer collaborates with the AI Solutions team to design, build, and deploy secure generative AI solutions for attorneys and business teams, focusing on hands-on development within existing firm platforms and data sources to deliver measurable impact. The AI Engineer translates business needs into practical workflows and copilots, builds and tests solutions, and drive adoption. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Collaborate with the AI Solutions team to engage attorneys, practice leaders, and business stakeholders; identify high-impact use cases; and translate objectives and constraints into actionable technical designs, prioritized backlogs, and delivery plans. Design, develop, and implement AI-powered solutions and workflows, including document intelligence, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), semantic search, copilots, and workflow automation, integrated with firm systems and data sources. Create and refine prompts, intents, topics, and guardrails for copilots, ensuring outputs meet standards for quality, safety, privacy, and cost efficiency. Integrate solutions with firm platforms (e.g., DMS, CRM, knowledge and collaboration systems) using secure, governed connectors. Develop reusable templates, standards, and best practices for AI solutions; proactively identify issues and recommend improvements. Stay informed on responsible AI principles (privacy, security, bias, safety) and adhere to firm governance, change control, and data-handling policies. Support AI tool evaluations, pilot initiatives, and reporting activities. Monitor emerging legal technology trends, with a focus on generative AI and automation. Perform additional duties as needed to advance Knowledge Management and Innovation (KM&I) initiatives and firm priorities. Knowledge, Skills and Capabilities: Proficient in low-code development using Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate), Copilot Studio, Google Dialogflow, UiPath, or similar tools. Strong foundation in data engineering, including ETL/ELT processes, SQL, OCR and unstructured document processing, metadata enrichment, data quality, and observability. Working knowledge of Azure OpenAI and other LLM services; adept at light scripting (JSON, Excel formulas, basic Python/SQL) for data preparation. Demonstrated execution discipline, including testing, documentation, iterative improvement based on feedback, and tracking KPIs to show value. Skilled in prompt engineering, configuring knowledge sources, and building simple retrieval/RAG workflows using out-of-the-box connectors. Proficiency with M365 data sources (SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Dataverse) and mapping business processes to automated workflows. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree preferred in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience through internships, bootcamps, certifications, or a demonstrable project portfolio. Relevant certifications are beneficial, such as Microsoft Power Platform Fundamentals/Associate, Copilot Studio/AI Builder credentials, or Lean/Agile basics. Minimum of one (1) year of hands-on experience developing low-code automations or applications. Experience in professional services environments such as law firms, legal services, or consulting is highly beneficial. #LI-Hybrid The Firm will comply with any applicable city or state workplace mandates in effect in regards to Covid-19.
