Position Overview Cognizant’s Manufacturing Innovation Center (located in Downtown Chicago’s MxD) is excited to offer a new opportunity for an AI Intern for its Smart Manufacturing solutions. This role is ideal for students eager to dive into ground-breaking AI technologies to develop transformative smart manufacturing applications. This position is designed to provide an exceptional learning experience and build valuable skills in a constantly evolving field. As an intern, you will play a key role in supporting applications development for Industry 4.0 use cases using AI, ML, IoT, analytics etc. These use cases are showcased in its Innovation Center and finds application in factories to improve machine performance, quality etc. This includes developing, configuring, designing, testing, and documenting innovative solutions that leverage AWS’ IoT cloud services. In this role, you will: Develop Use Cases: Work with cross-functional teams to develop and implement use cases for digital manufacturing. Get Hands-On Technology Experience: Work with MES, SCADA, PLC, machines/equipment, wireless sensors, cameras, cobots/robots. Configure and design systems: Assist in designing solutions to meet client and market needs. Train AI models: Create data, documents, images, and videos for model training. Conduct testing and build documentation: Help conduct thorough testing of solutions and document processes, results, and standard methodologies. Support Client Visits/Tours: Prepare and run demos, document topics, and help control AV and streaming. Participate in developing and presenting innovative solutions to clients and partners. Continue learning and building skills: Stay updated with the latest advancements in digital manufacturing technologies. Qualifications Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program, pursuing a degree in STEM (Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering, etc.) Ability to work part-time, 20 hours per week for the duration of the City Scholars program. Ability to extend beyond May 2026 and work through the summer (40 hours/week) until mid-Aug 2026. Excellent written and verbal communication Proven capabilities in teamwork and leadership A strong curiosity about technology and digital modernization Self-motivated, strong work ethic with a dedication to client service excellence Ability to work as part of a cross-cultural team, including flexibility to support multiple time zones when necessary Proven Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Location Office and Lab located at Cognizant’s Manufacturing Innovation Center in MxD, 1415, N Cherry Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. Start Date The internship will last 16 weeks, starting in January 2026. Hourly rate and other compensation The hourly rate for this position is $25.00 per hour, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
