  • Maximum term position up to 12 months
  • Salary range: $127,334 - $150,485 (pro rata) plus super plus salary packaging
  • Up to $15,900 in salary packaging and hybrid WFH & office model

ABOUT YOU

As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

  • Proficiency in evaluating and managing AI systems, with experience in leveraging platforms and approaches such as cloud-based AI services (e.g., Azure), data pipelines, and DataOps practices to support scalable, compliant, and sustainable implementations.
  • Strong leadership skills in coordinating AI roadmaps and aligning AI projects with organizational goals, while managing vendor relationships and ensuring value delivery.
  • Exceptional communication skills, able to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and provide education on AI tools and their applications.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in a technical field such as Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and/or equivalent practical experience (mandatory).

Responsibilities

Victoria Legal Aid (VLA) is seeking a leader to implement innovative, responsible and technically sound AI-driven solutions that improve service delivery and improve access to justice for all Victorians. This newly formed role is crucial in the execution and delivery of Victoria Legal Aid’s AI roadmap.

In this role, you will:

  • Evaluate, procure, implement, and maintain AI systems that meet organisational standards for compliance, performance, and long-term sustainability.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure AI solutions are feasible, fit-for-purpose, and secure.
  • Assess and recommend AI tools, platforms, and vendors based on organizational needs and compliance requirements.
  • Work with external vendors to test, implement, and refine AI solutions that align with organizational standards and deliver meaningful value.

This role is ideal for someone with strong technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership skills, who is passionate about using AI to advance access to justice.
This role is based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country.
