  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role (experience may substitute for formal training in some cases)
  • Current refrigeration handling licence (as applicable)
  • Solid understanding of HVAC-R systems and mechanical principles
  • Proficient in diagnostic tools and fault-finding techniques
  • Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and time management
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a field team
  • Good documentation and communication skills

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking a qualified and reliable Airconditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic to join our team, responsible for the assembly, installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial, commercial, and domestic airconditioning and refrigeration systems. This role involves hands-on work with mechanical components, pipework, system diagnostics, and commissioning to ensure optimal functionality and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
You will work closely with project teams, clients, and contractors to deliver high-quality services in a variety of environments, from residential buildings to large-scale commercial and industrial facilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interpret technical drawings, job specifications, and layout plans to determine installation requirements
  • Install mounting brackets, cut and thread pipes, and fit refrigeration lines for refrigerant, steam, gas, compressed air, and water systems
  • Assemble and install key system components including compressors, condensers, evaporators, motors, and control switches
  • Perform brazing, soldering, welding, and riveting to secure pipes and ensure alignment and proper fit
  • Fill and pressurise systems with test gases or fluids to detect leaks and confirm system integrity
  • Commission and test refrigeration and airconditioning systems to check operation, adjust settings, and ensure performance
  • Recover test gases and charge systems with refrigerants in compliance with environmental and safety standards
  • Diagnose faults, replace or repair malfunctioning components, and complete system overhauls as required
  • Maintain service records, log issues, and document corrective actions for future reference
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, safety regulations, and licensing requirements during all work activities
