AIR IMPORT CUSTOMS CLERK - BRADFORD

My client is seeking an Air Import Customs Clerk to join their team.
Customs team is responsible for creating all necessary documentation to allow cargo to move legally across borders globally, whether for imports or exports. This role involves liaising with customers and suppliers to ensure smooth clearance of consignments and requires establishing close relationships within a global supply chain. Regular interaction with authorities is required to resolve complex customs-related issues.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience working with customs data and a strong understanding of customs legislation.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a customs role.
  • Experience with CDS is essential, and knowledge of Descartes and FCL is preferred.
  • Sound understanding of Destin8/CNS.
  • Strong trade tariff knowledge.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines.
  • Eagerness to learn and ability to quickly grasp new systems and processes.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Proactive, motivated, and energetic with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Ability to work efficiently under time constraints with a “right-first-time” approach.
Responsibilities
  • Preparing customs entries for imports and exports, ensuring a high level of accuracy and full compliance.
  • Processing documents such as COO, EUR1 on ICERT.
  • Conducting screening to review client documentation like commercial invoices and packing lists.
  • Processing refunds through HMRC.
  • Ensuring the efficient and cost-effective import/export of finished products and components.
  • Organizing the flows of activity and taking decisive action.
  • Verifying and completing customs authorisation documentation.
  • Ensuring compliance with international transport regulations and customs procedures.
  • Coordinating international transport operations.
  • Prioritizing local customs administration.
