Position Overview: As an Air Import Specialist, you will be responsible for overseeing the importation of goods via air freight, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, and coordinating the timely and efficient delivery of goods to their final destinations. You will work closely with customs authorities, freight forwarders, and other relevant parties to ensure the smooth flow of imported goods. Job Responsibilities: * Manage end-to-end air import operations, ensuring timely and efficient cargo movement from origin to delivery. * Track and trace air import shipments, coordinating with airlines, origin agents, freight forwarders, truckers, and other logistics partners. * Prepare, verify, and review all necessary import documentation including air waybills, bills of lading, commercial invoices, and packing lists to ensure accuracy and customs compliance. * Coordinate carrier bookings and negotiate competitive rates with airlines, truckers, and vendors to optimize cost and service. * Maintain continuous communication with overseas agents, airline representatives, customs brokers, and local/regional service providers to resolve issues and ensure smooth shipment flow. * Confirm shipment weights, volumes, and charges. * Calculate rates and convert pricing as required. * Ensure shipments comply with customs regulations, tariff classifications, and applicable trade laws. * Manage customs clearance including document filing, duty/tax payments, and inspections. * Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure timely receipt and delivery of imported goods. * Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and concerns from clients and internal stakeholders regarding import shipments. * Support internal reporting by preparing, and presenting regular reports on import activities, including shipment status, delays, and cost analysis. * Follow SOPs and ensure compliance with tariffs, regulatory requirements, and company best practices. * Identify opportunities to improve process flow, operational efficiency, and productivity within the import department. * Escalation of problems to management when necessary. * Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Manager. Qualifications: * 2+ years of experience in Air Import operations * Clear understanding of quoting, margin, market value and carrier costs * Experience in Freight Forwarding & Air Import operations processes and procedures * Strong knowledge of customs regulations and international trade compliance. * Excellent communication, organizational, and negotiation skills. * Attention to detail and organizational abilities. * Proficiency in relevant software and tools for import documentation and tracking. * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.  Physical Requirement: * Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. * Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.  Work authorization/security clearance requirements: * Must be eligible to work in the United States * Must pass TSA eligibility screening  Job Types: Full Time Salary: $22.00 - $28.00 Per hour Schedule: 8-hour shift (Monday to Friday) Work Location: On-site Benefits: * 401(k) * Health Insurance * Dental insurance * Vision Insurance * Employee assistance program * Health Savings Account (HSA) * Life insurance * Short Term Disability Insurance * Long Term Disability Insurance  * Paid Time Off * Tuition Reimbursement
