RWDI is seeking an experienced individual with a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience to join our global Air Quality team in our Sydney or Brisbane office as Consultant. We are seeking a dynamic leader to spearhead our air quality business in New South Wales or Queensland and expand our team of dedicated air quality professionals. This is a unique opportunity to combine technical excellence, team leadership, and business development skills. As part of this role, you will be responsible for providing holistic consulting services, working collaboratively and seamlessly with experts from other environmental and climatic disciplines within RWDI. Key Responsibilities The role includes but is not limited to: • Conducting air quality assessments for a range of sectors (industry, buildings, infrastructure and transport) throughout Australia • Consulting with and answering technical questions from clients, project managers, and colleagues • Planning and coordinating technical aspects of projects • Supervising and assigning data collection, modelling, post-processing, analysis, interpretation, and documentation of technical results • Writing technical reports; • Assisting with the preparation of proposals • Assisting in business development initiatives to support the air quality team • Taking a lead technical role in internal and external project teams to ensure technical excellence and quality of analysis and reporting • Providing technical leadership to improve technical capability and capacity • Contributing to RWDI’s global air quality practice initiatives and strategies, and sharing experiences and knowledge with internationally based colleagues Skills, Knowledge & Expertise We are accepting applications from candidates with the following experience: • Bachelor’s degree, in applicable engineering or science disciplines. • Proven expertise in air quality dispersion modelling (including CALPUFF and AERMOD; GRAL an asset) and meteorological modelling (including TAPM and CALMET; WRF an asset) • Full understanding of the current regulatory/planning framework/technical guidance in NSW and/or QLD for air quality assessments • Demonstrated experience in leading air quality projects in NSW and/or QLD • Thorough knowledge of a variety of engineering analytical tools, GIS (QGIIS) , experience of ERP systems, and MS Word, MS Excel and MS Powerpoint • Proven ability to act as the technical liaison between internal project teams, external clients, and regulators Candidates should also possess: • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Strong people and team skills • Proven organisational capability, decision making and coordination skills while working on a number of projects Demonstrated initiative, independent problem-solving methods/capabilities • Demonstrated leadership/mentoring success • An eye for detail and an innate desire to get things right Persistence to see a job through to conclusion • Aptitude for practical problem-solving and shrewd judgement Drive to continuously improve processes and enhance efficiency Aptitude for creating, and contributing to, technical innovation Ability to travel occasionally. Experience in the following areas would be considered an asset: • Post-graduate degree or doctorate in subjects relevant to the role • current regulatory/planning framework/technical guidance in other Australian jurisdictions • Working knowledge of programming, for example Python, R, Linux • Professional qualification (e.g. CAQP, CPeng,..) • Membership and participation in air quality associations (e.g. CASANZ) and conferences Job Benefits Salary: commensurate with experience.
