SRC also offers many other benefits such as flexible retirement and savings options, insured benefits, professional development opportunities, a robust safety program, and an outstanding team environment.     Overview The Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) has an opening for an Air Quality Technologist to support the Air Quality team, which provides a comprehensive suite of measuring, monitoring and modelling services for a variety of industries, to help clients track their industrial air emissions and indoor air quality performance. This role supports this work by conducting stack sampling fieldwork, as well as ambient monitoring and indoor air sampling programs. This position requires frequent travel and outdoor work.   Accountabilities * Participate in stack sampling field projects, and occasional indoor air sampling and ambient air monitoring projects * Operate and maintain stack sampling equipment and gas analyzers, including equipment calibration, repair, and cleaning   * Prepare samples for analysis and input data collected during fieldwork  * Participate in report preparation for clients using Microsoft Word, Excel, and other vendor-specific software  * Load and unload equipment, ensuring all required items are accounted for and are in good working condition * Prepare chemical solutions to be used in upcoming field jobs  * Participate in and adhere to all aspects of the company safety program   Qualifications * Diploma in Chemical Technology or Environmental Engineering Technology is preferred; however, those with relevant work experience will be considered  * Experience working in an industrial setting, particularly conducting stack sampling, is an asset  * Experience using Microsoft Office, such as Word and Excel    Skills * Demonstrated understanding of field and lab safety practices   * Mechanical aptitude to complete general equipment repairs and maintenance  * Team player with effective interpersonal, communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills  * Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and help where needed    Requirements * A valid Class 5 driver’s licence is required and must be comfortable with long-distance highway driving; trailering experience is an asset  * Able to perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing ladders/stairs, work on platforms up to 100m high, lifting/carrying up to 50lbs, and working for extended periods while standing, walking, bending, and crouching is required * Able to travel for several weeks per month during peak season (from April to November), sometimes on short notice or with schedule changes * Enjoys working outdoors in all weather conditions   The chosen candidate will regularly need to successfully pass alcohol and drug-screening tests as a condition of meeting site-specific standards.     The chosen candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties.  The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.   This position is located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
