JOB SUMMARY

The Airborne Delivery Wing delivers specialist parachuting support to the Defence Airborne Forces community. ADW is commanded at OF4 (Wg Cdr) and is made up of a Headquarters and four Squadrons, which sits within the Air Wing of the Air Mobility Force in 1 Gp. The four Squadrons include Parachute Training Squadron (PTS), Support Squadron, MAB Delivery Squadron and finally Airborne Engineering Squadron. We seek excellence in all we do to deliver world-class specialist parachuting support and training, maintaining strong and effective relationships throughout. The Administrative Assistant role sits within the HQ Sqn of the Wing, providing the foundational administration to keep the Wing of ~220 personnel organised, prepared and informed. The role works closely alongside the Executive team to inform and enable their outputs as well as providing routine information input to various wider Stn agencies.
This position is advertised at 22.5 hours per week.

JOB DESCRIPTION

This is an exciting opportunity to join an essential team within RAF Brize Norton as an integral part of the Airborne Delivery Wing Headquarters, assisting with the smooth running of the Wing by supporting the Executive Officer and wider Headquarters on a day-to-day basis. The successful candidate will be a valued member of the team, operating in a challenging, fast-paced environment, with the impact of their work directly affecting Wing members, key stakeholders and wider business areas.

The successful candidate will undertake a variety of administration and organisational tasks, mainly focused on maintaining the foundational administrative tasks that keep the Wing in an organised administrative state, such as (but not limited to):

  • Outlook diary and Wing Mgmt Planner management.
  • Monitoring arrivals and departures across the Wing and completing the administration to on-board them into the Wing.
  • Management of the ADW Nominal Roll detail.
  • Maintenance of Outlook email and Teams distribution lists.
  • Management of mandatory competency statistics across the Wing.
  • Coordination of F540 submissions to Stn.
  • Management of office mail.
  • Management of information flow.
  • Monitoring, ordering, and distribution of stationery and other office supplies.
  • Any other administration duties as required, commensurate with the grade.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance.
