Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is currently seeking Aircraft Assembly Systems Mechanics (Level B or C) to assist with multiple areas of the 787 production system in North Charleston, South Carolina on a variable shift!
This role offers an exciting opportunity within a dynamic manufacturing assembly environment. Team members will leverage their prior experience, and the knowledge gained from training and certifications to complete daily assigned tasks effectively.
Individuals will be responsible for identifying their work locations on advanced airplanes, parts, and tooling by interpreting intricate drawings to accurately complete detailed work instructions. Attention to detail and procedure compliance is critical to identify all necessary hand tools, parts, and equipment required to ensure defect-free work. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE):

Ability to work a variable shift.
Ability to meet physical demands of the role such as: flexion and extension (head bent down, head bent back), handling, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching overhead, rotation of head/neck, standing, twisting at the waist and walking, climbing/balancing (stairs, ladders, poles, scaffolding, inclined surfaces), crawling, crouching (squatting).
Ability to carry/lift up to 10-35 pounds.
Ability to work with High Hazard Chemicals.
6+ months experience using software applications for internet navigation, email, Microsoft Suite and/or other specialized computer applications.
6+ months experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, reading, and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications, in English.
6+ months experience in a technical or mechanical field performing work with basic hand, power and/or pneumatic (air) tools.
6+ months of experience with the application of coatings, adhesives, or sealants by spray, roll, transferring or extrusion methods.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Completion of degree or certification from a trade school and/or A&P license.
3+ years installing various aircraft system components such as tubing, valves, regulators, actuators, compressors, and ducts.
3+ years in Automotive/Diesel/Heavy equipment mechanical experience.
3+ years troubleshooting, service, repair and diagnose cooling systems & lubricating systems.
3+ years with circuitry, electrical systems, lighting systems and their diagnostic equipment.
3+ years with diagnosing and repairing basic hydraulic brake systems.

Responsibilities

Must have the ability to complete the New Hire Training Cycle Flow to obtain and maintain all required certifications.
Use a computer in a production environment.
Look up/read/comprehend technical work instructions, drawings and/or specifications.
Install various parts and assemblies such as landing gear, aircraft control surfaces, exterior panels, carpets, blankets, roller trays/ball mats, stowbins, sidewalls, ceiling panels, lavatories, galleys, doors, and seats.
Install various aircraft system components such as tubing, valves, regulators, actuators, compressors, and ducts.
Wear appropriate protective clothing/equipment determined by the task you are performing.
Operate mechanical lifts of various types (e.g. ladders, tiger and snorkel lifts).
Use various hand tools and diagnostic equipment such as screwdrivers, ratchets, power screwdriver multi meters, continuity testers.
Apply chemical solvents, sealants, coatings, primers, adhesives, paints and special finishes.
Inspect your work quality and check for Foreign Object Debris.
Climbing/balancing (stairs, ladders, poles, scaffolding, inclined surfaces), Crawling, Crouching (squatting).
Work around energized sources (electrical equipment and hazards/shock, e.g. circuit breakers and wiring) and exposure to constant noise.
Finger manipulation (keyboarding, other).
Reading from a computer screen, printed drawings or documents.
Ability to adhere to high standards of Safety and Compliance to regulation

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Boeing South Carolina.
