As an Aircraft Configuration Manager , you will support a highly visible Defense Aviation Joint Program Office (JPO), which manages a significant defense weapon system development. The F-35 “Joint Strike Fighter” is a multi-role fighter currently in operation for the USAF, US Navy, USMC, and select allies. You will be responsible for executing critical configuration management functions to ensure the program’s success.
Hiring Timeframe: Immediate
Work Location: This position is a hybrid role in Arlington, VA. Seventh Sense will support your commute by contributing over $1,500 annually to your Transportation FSA.
What You’ll Do:
- Conduct critical configuration management, technical, or business analysis of major DoD acquisition systems to provide recommendations ensuring program success.
- Participate as a vital member of and/or support the overall Program Management Office (PMO).
- Apply principles, policies, and practices of configuration management, performance logistics, and systems acquisition to inform the planning, organization, and coordination of key components in the development, production, deployment, and sustainment of aircraft systems, subsystems, and equipment.
Must Haves:
- Active Secret security clearance, with the ability to obtain access to information protected under Special Access Programs.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science & Technology, Business Management, or a related discipline or an Associate’s degree plus four (4) years of additional relevant work experience.
- Work Experience:
- At least three (3) years of experience in Configuration Management (CM) of aircraft systems within the last six (6) years.
- Minimum of six (6) years of recent experience in program or systems development, production, and/or deployment and sustainment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity with the DoD 5000 series of policy and guidance, as well as Federal and DoD acquisition regulations.
- Proven experience in the configuration management process, encompassing configuration identification, control, audit, and status, alongside knowledge of DoD policies, procedures, review cycles, instructions, and standards.
- Experience in assessing Major Variance Requests, Specification Change Notices, Engineering Change Requests/Proposals, Manufacturing Build Records, Sustainment as Maintained Records, and related documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to provide guidance in configuration management and change control processes, ensuring all Class I (Major) changes and variances are properly managed and documented.
- Experience in collecting and maintaining process metrics and reporting techniques to ensure compliance with DoD-level Data Management Program policies and procedures.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, alongside a focus on customer service and effective customer handling skills.
Nice to Haves:
- Knowledge of Configuration Management Standards, including SAE EIA-649B, SAE GEIA-Handbook (HDBK)-649A, the Configuration Management Standard Implementation Guide, and MIL-HDBK-61B.
- Completion of DAU LOG 2040 Configuration Management or relevant Logistics Management courses is preferred.
- Experience in 5th Generation Fighter acquisition management.
- Specific knowledge and expertise related to the F-35 Lightning II program.
Salary Range: The proposed salary range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000 per year. This range reflects factors such as geographic location, skills, experience, training, certifications, contract-specific affordability, and organizational needs.
