Company: Hawaiian Airlines Role Summary:
Hawaiian Airlines – in partnership with the University of Hawai‘i Honolulu Community College’s Aeronautics Maintenance Technology program, U.S. Department of Labor/Veterans’ Employment & Training Service, and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) – has created the Aircraft Mechanic Apprenticeship Program (AMAP) to provide qualified individuals with valuable, supervised, on-the-job experience while working toward their A&P (Airframe & Powerplant) license.
AMAP provides valuable on-the-job training, acclimation, and career opportunities at Hawaiian Airlines to individuals who are enrolled in an accredited A&P school, as well as former military personnel who are in the process of obtaining their A&P license.
Upon successful completion of the program and obtaining an A&P license, apprentices will be employed by Hawaiian Airlines as full-time aircraft mechanics.
Travel to/from the interviews, as well as any subsequent relocation expenses, are the responsibility of the candidate.

Key Duties:

  • Responsible for Base maintenance work under the supervision of a lead mechanic
  • Responsible for accomplishing assigned maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repair work on Hawaiian Airlines aircraft
  • Perform hands-on tasks using tools or test equipment while under the oversight of the assigned lead mechanic
  • Ensures all safety and accident prevention measures are adhered to and corrective action taken as warranted
  • Must sign for any work performed that is legally allowed per the Federal Aviation Regulation
