Job Summary
The Fixed Wing Mechanic will perform maintenance, inspections, repairs, and troubleshooting on our fleet of GA-8 Airvans and Cessna 182 aircraft, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and company standards. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the safety and performance of our aircraft in a dynamic tour operation environment.
Responsibilities
- Aircraft Maintenance & Inspections:
- Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, including 100-hour, annual, and phase inspections, per FAA regulations and manufacturer guidelines.
- Perform repairs and troubleshooting on airframe, powerplant, and avionics systems for GA-8 Airvans and Cessna 182 aircraft.
- Ensure accurate documentation of all maintenance activities, including logbooks, service bulletins, and airworthiness directives.
- Troubleshooting & Repairs:
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and avionics issues, including flight control rigging, engine maintenance, and propeller balancing.
- Conduct inspections to verify part numbers and serial numbers match documentation.
- Support modifications or upgrades as required, ensuring compliance with FAA standards.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to FAA Part 91 and Part 135 regulations, as well as company Safety Management System (SMS) protocols.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and FAA standards.
- Inspect and maintain ground support equipment used in maintenance operations.
- Operational Support:
- Collaborate with pilots and maintenance supervisors to ensure aircraft are airworthy and ready for daily tour operations.
- Communicate maintenance status and serviceability to management and flight crew.
- Assist with inventory management of parts, tools, and supplies.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience:
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License in good standing required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a fixed-wing aircraft mechanic, with experience on GA-8 Airvan or Cessna 182 aircraft preferred.
- Prior experience in a Part 135 operation is a plus.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of general aviation aircraft systems, including Lycoming engines, airframes, and basic avionics.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems.
- Familiarity with FAA regulations (e.g., FAR Part 43, 91, 135) and maintenance documentation processes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, service bulletins, and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs).
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with pilots and staff.
- Other Requirements:
- Must provide a basic set of mechanic tools.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and occasional on-call duties.
- Must pass pre-employment DOT/FAA drug test and participate in random drug testing.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain an FAA ramp badge.
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to Lihue, Kauai, HI.
