PKL Services will be providing contractor Organizational Level (O-Level) maintenance in support to 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (3rd MAW) squadrons at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, CA., and Marine Corps Air Station Yuma AZ.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Aircraft Mechanic II (F-35 CDI/Airframes) Leads a team in the performance of aircraft maintenance, inspections, and scheduled / unscheduled maintenance. Processes the technical experience to supervise, subordinate mechanics and provide technical guidance on maintenance operations on the F-35A/B/C.
Performs scheduled/unscheduled Organizational Level maintenance on F-35 aircraft airframe, power plants, structures, and related systems. This mechanic must have a combination of experience to repair composite and sheet metal, aircraft structures and hydraulic components of a difficulty level deemed moderate to complex.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Responsible for all aircraft low observable outer mold line structures, materials, and applications.
  • Leads a team in the performance of aircraft scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
  • Prepares composite or metallic surfaces for coating applications by performing various operations such as sanding, stripping, applying vacuum, performing porosity testing, masking, and other preparation tasks.
  • Mixes and applies sealants, gap fillers and any other required processes prior to paint which may require the use of heating devices.
  • Mixes and applies paints and other coatings at the proper spraying consistency and brush/roller application.
  • Applies additional surface details to manufacturer specifications.
  • Performs or coordinates component-level testing for specification compliance after applications have been completed.
  • May perform similar duties in aircraft maintenance, modification, or maintenance role.
  • Verifies application/condition of installed Low Observable materials for conformity to specifications and determines material required to perform repairs.
  • Removes, takes corrective action, and makes reinstallations for design and modification changes.
  • Sets up and operates various types of material testers and mixers.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs and services aircraft systems.
  • Conducts diagnosis of malfunctions
  • Performs maintenance, disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, re-assembly, or adjustment of various aircraft systems in accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions, Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) as promulgated by COMNAVFORINST 4790.2 (series) and applicable publications, technical directives, instructions, standards, and/or procedures contained in pertinent manuals utilizing blueprints, drawings, or schematics pertinent to this Performance Work Statement as provided by the Contracting Officer Representative (COR).
  • Adhere to the Aircraft Confined Space Program
  • Properly utilize associated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Pass the Government’s F-35 Low Observable Systems Technician Course (If not previously qualified)
  • Any and all other duties as assigned by the Program Manager/Site Manager.
