Avion Solutions Inc., an employee-owned company, is seeking candidates for an Aircraft Systems Engineer to support the Systems Readiness Directorate Assault and Attack Division. This position is located in Huntsville, AL. Job Responsibilities/Duties: This position supports the Apache Fielding and Modernization Branch of the Assault and Attack Division of the Systems Readiness Directorate (SRD), located on Redstone Arsenal in the Huntsville, Alabama area. Responsible for technical oversight from an airworthiness point of view of the electronic equipment installed on the Apache helicopter. The oversight would include all phases of hardware and software qualification of an item or system, including its integration qualification on the Apache. Responsible for ensuring all submitted qualification documentation is reviewed by all necessary subject matter experts (SMEs), and reviewed responses are submitted to the contracting program office. Responsible for gathering subject matter expert input, not only for system qualification, but also for the creation of an Airworthiness Release (AWR) for a given aircraft or system to be installed in an aircraft. It is the AWR that authorizes a particular configuration of aircraft to fly, either as a test aircraft or an aircraft to be fielded. Will serves as an additional technical consultant to the program management office and serves as a liaison between the SRD functional division (SMEs) and the program office and equipment/aircraft suppliers. Other duties as assigned. Required Experience: This position requires a BS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering or a related discipline. At least 10 years of relevant experience. Must be a U.S. citizen and have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance. Must be able to travel up to 15% of the time. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of Airworthiness processes. Experience using SRD’s Task Tracking System (TTS) Experience and knowledge of Army aircraft, specifically the AH-64 Apache, would be prioritized.
