Description
Description Alaka’i Technologies is a fast-paced startup with the mission to enable hydrogen air mobility as a solution for clean travel and logistics networks. We are a group of trailblazers with a rich history of learning fast through designing and prototyping multiple aircraft and powerplants. We are looking for talented engineers who thrive in loosely structured environments and are able to take brand new concepts from whiteboard through prototyping and deployment. The Airframe Design Engineer is responsible for leading the aerodynamic and structural design of new aircraft from the earliest stages of concept design through prototyping and production. They either have the technical skills to execute each phase of the airframe design schedule or they can identify and manage the required project tasks for a complete product design. They have strong problem-solving skills and are comfortable working with a small team and wearing many hats. Duties/Responsibilities: Defining and maintaining the aircraft’s physical characteristics, including: Outer Mold Line (OML) System Packaging Structural Components Aerodynamic components (Propellers, Wings, Control Surfaces) Performing multidisciplinary design analyses, including the optimization of aerodynamic and structural systems. Executing dynamic load analyses throughout the aircraft flight envelope to define structural requirements. Working with the flight dynamics team to define the aircraft aerodynamic coefficients and characteristics for flight simulation using high fidelity tools. Requirements Proficiency with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools (preferably SolidWorks) Experience with aircraft concept design tools (openVSP, xflr5, similar) Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools (preferably OpenFOAM) Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools for aircraft structural design
Responsibilities
