Description:
The Syracuse Hancock International Airport is a flourishing airport, with a lot of exciting new capital projects ahead. The Syracuse Regional Airport Authority (SRAA) is looking for a full-time entry-level Airport Planner I to support SYR becoming a best-in-class airport. The Airport Planner conducts, analyzes, studies and develops plans to effectively implement capital projects at Syracuse Hancock International Airport related to facility utilization, land use and/or transportation initiatives, and other operational requirements consistent with business objectives. This position ensures the integration of long-term master plans and strategic objectives into both short and long-term development projects keeping in mind the impact on specified airports and to local/regional areas. This position also researches and investigates technical issues with direct effect on airport development projects; works on environmental programs, performs computer assisted drafting, design and development, and creation and maintenance of GIS data files. This position requires experience in AutoCad. This position reports to an administrative supervisor, which may be supervisor level Airport Planner II, or director level supervisor and demonstrates initiative and operates with latitude under general supervision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A. Graduation with a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Aviation Management or similar field. Course work in Airport Planning, Airport Design and/or Airport Management is preferred,
B. Experience working at an Airport or in an Aviation related industry beneficial.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must obtain and maintain security clearance as required by role and TSA regulations
Possession of valid New York State driver’s license
**This position is currently approved through the NYS Civil Services HELP program as permanent non-competitive, and requires a 52-week probationary period, after which may be appointed permanent competitive.
