Specific eligibility and coverage details will be provided during the hiring process** Job Summary: Diversified Systems, Inc is seeking a motivated and safety‑focused Alarm Service Apprentice to join our Alarm Services team. This role supports the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of fire alarm and life safety systems while working under the guidance of experienced and certified technicians. The Apprentice Alarm Service Technician will receive hands‑on training while developing technical skills, fire code knowledge, and safe work practices in accordance with NFPA standards and local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements. This position is ideal for individuals looking to build a long‑term career in fire alarm and life safety systems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist with the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of fire alarm and life safety systems Support work on fire alarm components and devices. Assist senior technicians with system testing, verification, and functional checks following repairs Help identify system issues and accurately document deficiencies and findings Support device replacement, wiring repairs, and minor system upgrades Learn and follow NFPA 72, applicable local fire codes, and company standards Maintain jobsite safety, cleanliness, and organization Complete service tickets, inspection reports, and related documentation using company systems Communicate professionally with supervisors, customers, and inspectors Maintain tools, test equipment, and company vehicles as assigned Participate in ongoing training, safety meetings, and certification or apprenticeship programs Required Skills & Qualifications High School Diploma or GED 2+ years experience in low voltage systems, electrical work, construction, or a related trade Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver’s license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record. Basic mechanical or electrical aptitude Willingness to learn fire alarm systems, testing procedures, repair techniques, and applicable fire codes Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety Good written and verbal communication skills Basic computer or tablet skills for service reporting and documentation Ability to manage time, follow schedules, and complete assigned tasks Preferred Qualifications: Enrollment in or completion of a fire alarm, electrical, or low‑voltage apprenticeship program Familiarity with basic hand tools and test equipment, including multimeter usage NICET Level I (Fire Alarm Systems) or willingness to obtain certification Interest in developing long‑term technical skills within the fire alarm and life safety industry This role may require extended periods of sitting or standing, movement around the office or job site, and operation of standard equipment. Physical activities can include reaching, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 75 lbs. Field positions may involve heavy lifting, working in varying climates (including outdoor conditions), construction or low-voltage environments, and exposure to dust, noise, or confined spaces.
