JOB DESCRIPTION

AZZ has an exciting Class 1 with Q Driver position at our Edmonton Alberta facility. Reporting to our logistics supervisor you will help pick-up and/or deliver our customer materials safely and on time, while maintaining great customer relationships and potentially creating new ones. This position is mainly for daily local routes between Edmonton and Calgary with occasional trips elsewhere in Alberta that may require an overnight stay.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A non-GDL Class 1 license with Air brakes under no type of suspension
  • A clean 5-year driver abstract (please provide with resume)
  • 2-5 years of commercial driving experience is required.
  • Must have experience operating flatbed trailers.
  • Experience hauling steel or industrial machinery is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and customer service skills

MINIMUM EDUCATION

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required
  • Hours of service training
  • Cargo securement training
  • Weights and Dimension training
  • Driver Fatigue Training
  • Daily Trip Inspection Training
    If training is not up to date it can be provided.

Responsibilities
  • Drive a tractor- flatbed trailer combination to transport and deliver steel materials to and from designated locations.
  • Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes to ensure that vehicle is in proper working condition.
  • Obey traffic laws and follows established AZZ Edmonton transportation procedures.
  • Must be able to assist with truck and trailer inspections as per AZZ requirements.
  • Strap and inspect loads for securement and potential movement issues.
  • Reports any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles on logbooks and to supervisor.
  • Maintains records such as vehicle and hours of service logs, records of cargo or billing statements in accordance with regulations.
  • Reads maps and follows written and verbal geographic directions.
  • Completes safety training for site access to some delivery locations when required.
  • Must be able to comply with safety requirements at AZZ and is well versed in Alberta highway traffic safety act, regulation and code.
