Description This position is responsible to act as a company representative for field operations in AB. Additional tasks can involve working on a Forward Attack Tanker Base (FATB) or Mobile Retardant Base (MRB), along with providing technical and mechanical assistance. Compliance with all customer contract requirements pertaining to the supply of Phos-Chek products and services is mandatory. The Technical Representative conducts all company related business in a safe and efficient manner, in full compliance with Perimeter Solutions ESH&S policies, Provincial Occupation, Health & Safety requirements, environmental legislation and various other applicable legislation. This position is a full-time permanent position based out of the Sturgeon County, AB facility. This position reports to the Facility Supervisor, Sturgeon County, AB facility. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Coordinate a safe, efficient, and uninterrupted fire-retardant supply and service: - Service mixing and loading equipment - Perform preventative maintenance and system tests of mixing and loading equipment to ensure product and equipment quality and standards - Troubleshoot mixing and loading equipment problems to maintain operations - Ensure all safe working procedures (SWP’s) are adhered to - Monitor product quality control procedures - Ensure documentation and reporting requirements are met Understand company commitment to safety and ESH&S policies and procedures Perform tanker base setups, shutdowns, and other field related projects, with assistance from other field service staff. Understand and perform operational responsibilities Understand and carry out retardant quality control procedures Understand environmental requirements as required for MRB operations Respond appropriately to environmental incidents Adhere to daily check-in/check-out requirements Safely operate specialty equipment such as forklifts, all terrain forklifts, etc. Participate in daily tailgate safety meetings Create work orders and requisitions within our preventative maintenance computer program, following company guidelines Responding to early or late callouts Timely and accurate submission of documentation, including time sheets, base visits, expenses- travel card, logbooks, base orientation checklist, and any other documentation as required Aid other Technical Representatives as required, reporting to Facility Supervisor Cooperate and communicate with all office staff, Field Service staff, Plant/Production staff and Agency personnel in a professional and courteous manner Responsible for ATB and MRB operations through effective: - Safety program - Employee training program - Environmental management system - Documentation and reporting system - Equipment management and tracking system - Communications system - Fiscal responsibility - Liaison with Canadian jurisdictions Liaison with all customers, agencies and jurisdictions: - Ensure effective communications - Resolve customer concerns in a timely manner - Report issues, concerns or requests to the Facility Supervisor - Support our Canadian Field Service vision “Wildfire Solutions, Service and Support” Other Duties and Responsibilities Perform the following off-season activities: - Equipment maintenance and overhaul - Pre/post season review and planning - Attend business related trade shows - Participate in employee development and training programs - Assist other Technical Representatives with tasks and projects - Participate in annual Winter Training and Field Service days Improve equipment, productivity, and safety: - Explore suitable equipment innovations - Submit new ideas to the attention of management - Support product development and marketing efforts: - Maintain awareness of changing industry requirements - Participate in the development of new business opportunities - Share innovative marketing ideas with management Other duties as assigned Requirements Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to work with minimal to no supervision Highly organized with ability to manage priorities and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously Must be a team player and can effectively communicate and interact with all levels of the organization and our customers Demonstrate strong sense of urgency and responsiveness to meet business demands Proficient computer skills- Word, Excel, Outlook, NetSuite etc. High school diploma or equivalent Valid class 5 driver’s license or equivalent Strong mechanical background or aptitude Millwright or pipe fitting experience (asset) Welding/fabricating experience (asset) Wildland fire fighting experience/knowledge (asset) First Aid Certificate (asset) Certified Equipment Operator (i.e. RTFL, FL, Aerial Platform) (asset) Certified in WHMIS, TDG and Confined Space Entry (asset) Experience with trailer towing and load securement (asset) This position requires frequent travel by vehicle or air, for extended periods of time, often at short notice. Working Environment & Physical Demands The nature of our business may expose the employee to frequent and elevated levels of personal stress During fire season, a 10 and 4 work schedule will be in place (10 days of work, 4 days off). Every effort will be made to offer these rest days on scheduled days off, however where necessary, may not result in the scheduled days. Perimeter Solutions reserves the right to adjust schedules as required. Lifting weights upwards of 50lbs regularly Periods of sedentary activity such as sitting for long periods of time Use of various hand and equipment tools with repetitive motions regularly Long periods of standing and or walking Regular periods of kneeling, climbing, and using stairs. Work in temperatures of 30-45 degrees Celsius Various hazard exposures may be encountered during duties associated with this position, such as working near running aircraft The Technical Representative will be required to pass a fitness evaluation involving the following: - Lift 22 kg (49lbs) weight from floor to waist - Lift 22 kg (49lbs) weight from a crouched position, simulating lifting a loading hose - Crouch down to kneeling position for 10 minutes performing a task with their hands - Carry a 27 kg (59.5lbs) bucket with one arm a 50-meter distance - Walk 1.6km in 16 minutes
