Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC/ADC-T) Reports To: SUD Program Manager FLSA Classification: Exempt Work Location: Remote Department: TelyGo Hours: Monday - Thursday, 7:30am - 5:30pm Pay Range: $58,000 - $73,000 annually JOB SUMMARY: The Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC/ADC-T) provides virtual individual and group counseling to support clients in achieving recovery and personal well-being. This role delivers services through secure telehealth platforms in compliance with Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) regulations and 245G standards. The counselor engages clients remotely and addresses substance use, mental health, and personal or family challenges while maintaining thorough documentation of all treatment services. PRIMARY JOB DUTIES: Under the direction of the Program Manager and Treatment Director, the LADC/ADC-T will: Conduct comprehensive assessment and assessment summary using the ASAM Six Dimensions and develop individualized treatment plans with goals, objectives, and interventions. Ensure each client has an Initial Service Plan addressing immediate health, safety, and preliminary service needs. Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including Initial Service Plans, Comprehensive Assessments, Individual Treatment Plans, Progress Notes, Treatment Plan Reviews, Summaries at Termination, and Continuing Care Plans. Provide virtual individual and group counseling, education, and behavioral modification strategies to address substance use, mental health issues, and criminogenic behaviors. Provide services via approved secure telehealth platforms in compliance with HIPAA and 245G. Ensure a confidential, private workspace during all client sessions. Facilitate psycho-educational and therapeutic groups as part of the recovery process. Deliver an average of 28 hours per week of direct client services, combining individual and group sessions. Participate in weekly treatment team meetings and clinical supervision sessions to review and update client progress. Collaborate with referral sources, probation officers, social service agencies, and other members of the treatment team. Follow all safety and security protocols to ensure the safety of clients, staff, and self. Perform other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Independent and self-motivated with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain professional boundaries and work ethically with clients. Ability to analyze and solve problems effectively and in a timely manner. Ability to manage emotionally intense client interactions in a remote setting and follow virtual crisis response protocols. Experience working with clients with co-occurring mental health and criminal justice involvement. Knowledge of DHS 245G regulations, 12 Core Functions, and industry best practices. Understanding of HIPAA regulations and client confidentiality requirements. Competence in facilitating individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and educational lectures. Ability to manage multiple client cases, prioritize responsibilities, and maintain attention to detail. Must have basic IT troubleshooting skills (audio/video, connectivity, login issues, etc.) REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum age: 18 years. Must hold a current LADC or ADC-T license in the state of Minnesota Must be a resident of Minnesota. Completion of 12 hours of training in co-occurring mental health disorders (within 6 months of hire if not already completed). Ability to use platforms such as Zoom and Teams. Ability to use EHR (Ritten) and other electronic tools for documentation. Adherence to MN Statutes 604.20 and 604.205 regarding sexual exploitation. Successful completion of the MN Department of Human Services background study. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1–2 years of experience working with clients struggling with substance use. 2–3 years of experience providing Outpatient or Intensive Outpatient treatment. Experience with Ritten or other electronic health records system(s). Additional licenses (preferred but not required): LPC, LPCC, LICSW, LP. WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in a remote home office environment using secure telehealth and electronic health record platforms. Must have a private, confidential workspace free from interruptions during client sessions. Requires reliable high-speed internet, webcam, and audio equipment suitable for video-based counseling. Must be able to sit for extended periods and engage with clients via video conferencing. Must be able to visually observe clients and respond to verbal and non-verbal cues through video platforms. Must maintain professional appearance and appropriate on-camera presence during video-based services, supervision meetings, and team meetings. Must adhere to HIPAA, 245G, and organizational security requirements for remote work, including safe storage of equipment and secure handling of electronic records. Must follow all safety protocols to ensure personal, client, and staff safety. CONTINUED EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Complete continuing education courses required to maintain active LADC or ADC-T licensure. Opportunities for additional specialized training. Attend mandatory in-house training sessions and staff meetings as scheduled.
