Job Summary
The Algebra Readiness support provides flexible, part-time academic support to middle school students by reinforcing math foundations, remediation in pre-algebra skills, and collaborating with teachers to prepare students for success in Algebra I.

Essential Duties

  • Provide academic support to students in foundational math skills to strengthen Algebra readiness.
  • Remediate individual students or small groups, in coordination with classroom teachers.
  • Help monitor student progress, including identifying areas where students may require extra time or interventions.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to align support sessions with curriculum goals.
  • Encourage a positive growth mindset and build student confidence in mathematics.
  • Maintain regular communication with teachers and, when appropriate, families about student progress.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • VA Teaching License - Middle School Math Preferred
  • Strong proficiency in middle school math and pre-algebra concepts.
  • Previous experience tutoring, teaching, or mentoring middle school students preferred.
  • Ability to explain math concepts clearly and patiently at a level appropriate for middle school learners.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Flexible availability during and/or outside of school hours.
