Description
Imagine what you could do here. At Apple, new ideas have a way of becoming extraordinary products, services, and customer experiences very quickly. Bring passion and dedication to your job and there's no telling what you could accomplish. Dynamic, smart people and inspiring, innovative technologies are the norm here. The people who work here have reinvented entire industries with all Apple Hardware products. The same passion for innovation that goes into our products also applies to our practices strengthening our commitment to leave the world better than we found it. Join us to help deliver the next groundbreaking Apple product. Do you love working on challenges that no one has solved yet? As a member of our dynamic group, you will have the unique and rewarding opportunity to craft upcoming products that will delight and inspire millions of Apple’s customers every single day. Apple’s Biophotonics group is seeking an experienced scientist to collaborate with an R&D team developing a new generation of bio-sensing technologies. Within Biophotonics, you will be part of a team with expertise in biophotonic sensor characterization and debug, clinical study design, clinical operations, multivariate analysis of sensor data and algorithm development. DESCRIPTION You will be responsible for developing advanced sensing algorithms from multichannel biosensor data. This will involve human study data analysis, algorithm prototyping, and assessing algorithm performance requirements. You will work cross-functionally with other engineering teams, most closely with SW engineering, to refine requirements, develop specifications and verify on-device implementation. This is a hands-on role; you will be in the lab collecting data and testing algorithm prototypes in real time as well as analyzing larger data sets offline. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS BS in Electrical Engineering, Applied Math or Physics, or related field Background in image/signal processing, estimation/inference, or machine learning Engineering math background (e.g. applied linear algebra, probability) Programming skills in high level languages like Python/Matlab PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 10+ years of relevant industry experience MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Math or Physics, or related field Multi-disciplinary understanding of statistical analysis and optical physics principles Skilled in training/validation for algorithm features using sensor data, and establishing quantitative algorithm performance benchmarks Knowledge of algorithm optimization for HW constraints (compute, memory, power) Familiarity with analyzing large datasets and developing data processing pipelines Experience with measuring, interpreting and debugging human physiological signals Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities
The scientist will be responsible for developing advanced sensing algorithms using multichannel biosensor data, which includes analyzing human study data, prototyping algorithms, and assessing performance requirements. This role requires hands-on work in the lab for real-time testing and offline analysis of large datasets, while collaborating with engineering teams.
