About the role The permanent full-time role of Allied Health Assistant (Occupational Therapy) is to work within the Mission and Mission in Action of HammondCare to ensure a high standard of service is provided to patients of the Hospital, along with appropriate support and advice to their carers. The Allied Health Assistant will participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure a patient-centred, evidence-based, continuous quality improvement work environment that is consistent with the values and ethics of HammondCare. HammondCare is a NSW Health-affiliated organisation, all NSW Health transferrable entitlements will be recognised. Responsibilities Assess and treat clients with a high standard of professional practice, maintaining the ethics and standards of HammondCare under supervision and direction of treating Occupational Therapist Contribute to client care as part of a multidisciplinary team and maintain good communication with medical, nursing, allied health and other staff and voluntary workers Provide assistance in patient care and equipment management during therapy sessions and home visits Management of equipment and equipment loan system including transport of equipment as required, equipment ordering, cleaning and general maintenance. Assist in the preparation for and participate in conducting group sessions as required Assist in preparing and transporting patients to and from therapy sessions Assist in the development of resources for therapy programmes Set priorities in the daily work schedule in consultation with the therapist in the assigned area Observe and report on the status of patients to the treating therapist and other staff as appropriate Clearly document intervention in the patient’s clinical records in accordance with documentation guidelines About you Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance would be desirable. Experience working in a health or aged care setting. Experience across inpatient and outpatient / community settings would be desirable. A current driver's license and safe driving record. Willingness to travel between HammondCare’s sites and services.
