The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region. The Regional and Specialist Services Team, established by the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) in 2024, is dedicated to delivering coordinated, culturally safe, and integrated specialist, allied health, and primary health care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and families across Southeast Queensland. About the Role? The Allied Health Assistant will be required to work alongside various positions and services within the Allied Health Team to support health initiatives within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities of South East Queensland. Specifically, but not limited to providing support to the Occupational Therapy team, Exercise Physiology team, Physiotherapy team, ITC team and NDIS service delivery needs. Clinical support tasks will be delegated under the direct or indirect supervision of an allied health professional. Your day to day duties may include: Coordinate NDIS Allied Health referrals across the IUIH Network Southeast Queensland footprint Facilitate intake meetings with the participant and or family to determine therapy goals and priorities in a culturally safe practice Track compliance with NDIS Practice Standards and IUIH. Complete intake yarns with participants, families, carers etc. to obtain necessary information. Liaise with stakeholders including the NDIS to obtain relevant documentation. Complete triage with senior clinicians to ensure quality and safety of assignment for participants to relevant clinicians. Ensure admin and support tasks are completed in an efficient, compliant manner. Support the Disability Allied Health Coordinators in ensuring documentation is executed, including face-to-face yarns to complete execution. Assist and support the delivery of information sessions with individuals, families and other groups, such as at community events on exercise programs, maintaining healthier lifestyle choices and chronic disease management. Refer people to existing lifestyle modification programs and other health programs as appropriate. Assist in evaluations and reports on capacity and risks as required. About You? Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD) Current Criminal History Check Current Working with Children’s Check (QLD Blue Card) Curent Disability Worker Screening Check Current First Aid and CPR Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance and/or other relevant qualification Desirable, but not mandatory: Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities What Can we Offer?
