Responsibilities

ROLE PURPOSE

The role of the Women’s Allotment Support Worker is to support the running of C2C Social Action’s C2C Grows allotment project in Northampton, working alongside the Allotment Project Manager to deliver safe, inclusive and therapeutic gardening sessions for women experiencing social disadvantage.
The post-holder will combine practical horticultural work with supporting service users, ensuring the allotment is a welcoming and purposeful space. This role also involves helping maintain strong links between the allotment project and C2C Women’s Centres and supporting the upkeep of outdoor spaces at these centres.
10 hours per week over 2 days (Tue & Thur 9.30-2.30)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Horticultural Duties

  • Assist with the day-to-day running of the allotment site, including sowing, planting, weeding, watering, harvesting and general maintenance.
  • Support the preparation of the allotment for key events, such as creative workshops and National Garden Scheme openings.
  • Help organise and distribute produce grown at the allotment to C2C Women’s Centres.
  • Support the development of outdoor spaces at C2C Women’s Centres.

Support Work & Service User Engagement

  • Welcome and engage women accessing the allotment project, ensuring a safe, supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Work collaboratively with the Allotment Project Manager to facilitate group sessions and one-to-one support.
  • Assist in delivering creative and therapeutic outdoor activities.
  • Actively contribute to the wellbeing and personal development of service users, helping them build skills, confidence and positive routines.

Partnership & Multi-Agency Working

  • Maintain effective relationships with external partners, including Probation Services, social prescribers, and other agencies.
  • Signpost service users to relevant services and support, as appropriate.

Systems & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all risk assessments (individual and site-based).
  • Adhere to all health and safety requirements, including fire safety and site security.
  • Maintain safeguarding standards, reporting concerns in line with organisational procedures.
  • Ensure GDPR compliance and maintain confidentiality in all areas of work.
