Allotment Officer Permanent Grade C- £35,412 - £44,075 Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Equal Pay Programme Working 36.5 hours per week Are you passionate about local food growing and supporting thriving community spaces? We’re looking for an enthusiastic and organised Allotment Officer to help shape and support Birmingham’s allotment service. About the role In this varied and rewarding role, you’ll play a key part in managing the allocation and letting of allotment plots, ensuring a smooth and efficient application process for residents. You’ll support the ongoing development and improvement of the allotment service, helping to create a well-managed, accessible, and responsive offer across the city. Working closely with allotment associations and plot holders, you’ll build positive relationships, provide support, and help resolve queries. You’ll also undertake site visits where required, gaining a real insight into how our allotments are used and how they can continue to flourish. About you We’re looking for someone who is highly organised, detail-focused, and confident in administrative processes, with a genuine passion for community growing and sustainable food production. You will also * hold a relevant qualification in land management, horticulture, or a related field, or equivalent experience * experience managing or coordinating allotments, green spaces, or similar community assets * experience working with community groups or volunteer‑led organisations * experience liaising with multiple stakeholders and resolving disputes. * excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively * commitment to sustainability and community development * knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to allotment management If you enjoy working with people, thrive in a varied role, and want to make a real difference to local communities and green spaces, we would love to hear from you.
