Description This position is located in Evanston, Illinois. The Alternatives to Violence (ATV) and Prevention Coordinator is a member of the violence prevention team who supports the ATV and prevention programs. The Alternatives to Violence program focuses on building accountability and developing skills of those who have caused harm to ensure they maintain healthy relationships in the future, while increasing the safety of survivors. The coordinator will support the data management, compliance, and reporting for the ATV program and act as a backup facilitator. As a member of the violence prevention team, the coordinator will provide curriculum-based education and lead groups around issues of violence prevention, building healthy relationships, and comprehensive sex education to youth of all ages, parents/caregivers, schools, and other community groups. This position will also assist in planning and facilitating workshops on domestic violence prevention and awareness for adults in various settings. The coordinator is a motivated self-starter who embraces the opportunity to build innovative, best-practice programming, acts as a catalyst for change, and influences others to translate vision into action. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Education and Prevention Services (40%) As needed, provides intake coordination and follow-up for the Alternatives to Violence Program, including monitoring the phone line, returning calls, scheduling intakes, connecting individuals to appropriate internal or external services, and steps in as co-facilitator for the 26-week group sessions for male-identified folks who have caused harm, and assists in preparing participant materials. Implements comprehensive sex education and other prevention education curricula in schools and community-based organizations. Works closely with the violence prevention team to support all prevention programs and build new educational offerings, such as a PAIP facilitators training. Participates as a trainer in delivering domestic violence training and prevention education, including but not limited to the state-required 40-hour domestic violence training program, trainings for first responders, and other community-based training on domestic violence. Maintains current knowledge of best practices and trends in the field and regularly reviews and updates existing curriculum to implement innovative improvements and ensure appropriate documentation. Represents and speaks about the services of the organization to community organizations. Data Management and Continuous Quality Improvement (40%) With support from the Senior Manager of Violence Prevention Services, assists in the development and implementation of a comprehensive program evaluation process, soliciting client feedback and regularly reporting data to staff for review and program improvement discussions. Attends quality improvement meetings to report on planning and outcomes of ATV and prevention programs. With support from the Senior Manager of Violence Prevention Services, manages the timely completion and submission of all reporting and record keeping, and implements an ongoing online file audit process to ensure compliance with internal quality assurance and funder guidelines. Maintains thorough client files, including completed intake information, program attendance, payment information, and written narratives as warranted. Coordinates the payment process for all program participants, including collecting program fees, maintaining records, and ensuring timely fee deposits to the YWCA. Reviews and monitors ongoing policies and procedures to ensure alignment with best practices. Assists in developing the annual budget. Assists in the implementation and utilization of the Salesforce client management system for ATV. Completes and submits all necessary reporting documentation in a timely fashion. Reports on goals and objectives identified in government grants and foundations as appropriate. Community Outreach (20%) Functions as a representative of YWCA Evanston/North Shore in schools, community organizations, and court systems, including tabling, public speaking, and coalition meetings. Assists with targeted outreach to grow program reach, including development of public awareness and educational materials Maintain relationships with key community partners with the courts, social service agencies, and other stakeholders, to ensure a streamlined referral source for ATV and increased awareness of all prevention programs Assist in guiding the development of targeted outreach to increase referrals for service by partner organizations and increase the utilization of services. Establishes and maintains working relationships with area referral sources, especially relevant court services and local police departments, and regularly provides marketing materials. Participates in coalitions and committees to form collaborative responses to domestic violence. ADDITIONAL DUTIES Attends staff training and participates in agency committees as requested. Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Public Health, or related field Experience and/or Training: At least 1 year of experience working with perpetrators or those who cause harm At least 1 year of experience providing education or training, with a focus on youth education, domestic violence, or comprehensive sex education A deep theoretical and practical understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence Licenses/Certificates: Valid driver’s license and auto insurance Successful completion of the Illinois 40-Hour Domestic Violence Training Certificate within 3 months of employment Acquisition of the Certified PAIP Professional credential within 12 months of employment First Aid/CPR within 6 months of employment Technology/Equipment: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Reliable access to personal automobile to conduct outreach functions PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Public Health, or related field. Experience and/or Training: At least 3 years of experience working with perpetrators or those who cause harm, with increasing levels of responsibility for service delivery At least 2 years of experience providing education or training, with a focus on youth education, domestic violence, and sex education Experience working in public school settings and with school personnel Knowledge of the Illinois Protocol for Partner Abuse Intervention Programs guidelines Experience in crisis intervention and conflict resolution Experience developing, coordinating, or managing programs Language: Fluency in Spanish Licenses/Certificates: Illinois 40-Hour Domestic Violence Training Certificate Certified PAIP Professional credential Technology/Equipment: Intermediate proficiency with virtual services technology Intermediate proficiency with online case management systems PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS Intermittent (less than 15%), Occasional (15-45%), Frequent (50-75%), and Continuous (over 75%). A starting hourly rate higher than $22.74 is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale.
