Description

Job Purpose:
To assemble and build aluminium vehicle bodies from pressed kits, working from detailed engineering drawings. The role involves MIG and TIG welding, and use of workshop equipment including overhead cranes (training provided).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Body Assembly:
  • Build complete aluminium vehicle bodies from pre-pressed kit components.
  • Work from engineering drawings and build specifications to ensure accurate assembly.
  • Align, fix, and secure panels, sub-frames, brackets, and fittings.
  • Welding & Fabrication:
  • Carry out high-quality MIG and TIG welding of aluminium.
  • Use power and hand tools to carry out fabrication tasks including drilling, grinding, and finishing.
  • Workshop Operations:
  • Safely operate workshop machinery including overhead cranes (training provided).
  • Maintain a tidy, organised, and safe work area.
  • Follow company health and safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with other fabricators, fitters, and supervisors to complete builds to schedule.
  • Ensure high standards of workmanship and quality control.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in aluminium body building or similar fabrication work.
  • Strong MIG and TIG welding skills with aluminium.
  • Ability to read and work from technical drawings and build instructions.
  • Confident using hand tools, grinders, drills, and other workshop equipment.
  • Experience in vehicle or trailer body building (advantageous but not essential).
