Description Job Title: Aluminum Welder Classification: Non-Exempt Reports to: Production Supervisor Revision Date: October 27, 2025 Job Purpose: A machine shop welder plays a crucial role in the manufacturing and fabrication industries. The primary purpose of a Machine Shop Welder is to join metal parts together using various welding techniques, ensuring the structural integrity and quality of the final product. The most successful candidate is a mechanically inclined individual that can weld a variety of parts and work independently as well as on a team. Key Responsibilities: Reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings Measuring and cutting metal components Welding metal parts Inspecting and testing welds Maintaining welding equipment Must comply with all OSHA and safety procedures Required Skills/Abilities: AWS (American Welding Society) certification preferred. Tube and Tank welding experience preferred. MIG/TIG welding for aluminum. Able to drive a forklift when necessary. Ability to read and fabricate products from design or specification documents. Mechanical skills. Math skills for accurate measuring and design of products/solutions Ability to perform tasks under time pressure deadlines. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Internal weld test required. Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent level of training Working knowledge of metalworking machinery (Acetylene Torch, Metal Shear, Roller, Press Brake, etc.) a plus. Minimum 3-5 years of welding experience, with at least 2 years specializing in aluminum using TIG and MIG methods in a manufacturing setting. One or more years of experience in general labor. Physical Requirements: Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature occasionally. Must be able to bend at waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to climb into and out of the interior of boats. Must be able to lift 50 pounds when necessary. Be able to drive a forklift when necessary. Be able to read and understand blueprints. Keep work area clean and orderly. This is a safety-sensitive position.
