Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Event Management, Public Relations, or a related field
Experience managing relationships with alumni, members, donors, volunteers, or similar external stakeholders in a professional setting.
Demonstrated project management experience, including leading cross-functional teams to achieve defined goals and outcomes.
Experience planning, coordinating, and executing events for external audiences, such as members, donors, or community partners.
Supervisory experience or experience coordinating the work of others, including staff, volunteers, or committee members.
Experience using CRM systems, donor databases, or other customer/member management tools to track engagement and manage relationships.
Experience developing engagement strategies for distributed networks, groups, or members.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) is seeking an Alumni Relations Specialist III to strengthen connections between alumni and LAS students, faculty, and staff. This position will work closely with college and department leadership, key faculty and staff, the ISU Foundation, and university partners to enhance alumni engagement across the college’s academic and administrative units.
The Alumni Relations Specialist will lead efforts to identify and cultivate relationships with distinguished alumni, provide strategic consultation to departments on alumni engagement, and facilitate alumni involvement in college initiatives. Responsibilities also include coordinating alumni award nominations and alumni events, and serving as the college’s liaison to internal and external alumni organizations.
In addition, this position provides strategic guidance to the Dean on alumni engagement initiatives and evaluates programming to ensure alignment with college and university goals. As a member of the LAS Marketing and Recruitment team, the Alumni Relations Specialist will also contribute to storytelling by managing and creating content for digital platforms and the LAS alumni magazine.

Key Responsibilities include :

  • Build and maintain relationships with distinguished alumni to support engagement, mentorship, and advisory initiatives.
  • Serve as the college liaison for alumni relations and represent the college at key events.
  • Advise departments on alumni engagement strategies and advisory council development.
  • Plan, execute, and assess alumni events, including the LAS Dean’s Advisory Council meetings and the college alumni awards ceremony.
  • Contribute content to and manage the production of the LAS alumni magazine.
  • Coordinate college participation in alumni awards programs and prepare award nominations.
  • Maintain alumni records and support alumni data requests.
  • Manage the alumni relations budget to ensure strategic and impactful use of resources.
