Description POSITION OVERVIEW The Americas Suppressants Business Unit Controller is a leadership position within the Americas Suppressants Business Unit and the finance department, with shared responsibility with business unit leaders on execution of the company’s strategy and goals. The ideal candidate for this role will have a business driven mindset, leadership ability to step up as a partner to the business unit leaders, and a strong accounting and financial background. Specifically, this position will be directly responsible for accounting and financial planning and analysis for the Americas Suppressants Business Unit and will also oversee and direct day to day accounting processes, ensuring financial integrity, accurate and timely closing of the accounting records, periodic financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting. The Americas Suppressants Business Unit Controller is expected to work closely with the Business Unit leaders and with other members of the executive team and be intimately involved in strategic discussions regarding the Americas Suppressants Business Unit. This role will report to the Americas Suppressants Business Unit leader, with a dotted line to the Global Corporate Controller. LOCATION: Onsite position based in Clayton, MO or Green Bay, WI ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Provide financial leadership and manufacturing accounting expertise supporting the Business Unit leader and the business unit’s financial objectives. Be a champion of the BU value drivers, providing focus and guidance on price, productivity and profitable new business. Ensures that the monthly closing of the accounting periods is completed in time according to the published corporate reporting calendar. Prepare quarterly BU reporting deck, highlighting financial performance against targets for the reporting period. Lead forecasting, budgeting, demand planning and maintaining working capital processes within the business unit. Drive accounting processes and process improvements within the business unit to ensure accurate books and records and compliance with key control requirements including Sarbanes Oxley (SOX). Strong understanding of US GAAP accounting concepts and principles Provide leadership to the team and perform all normal supervisory functions, including hiring, training, appraisal, counseling and discipline. Other projects or tasks as required. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and other related fields or equivalent experience CPA and/or MBA preferred. Minimum ten (10) years of related experience required, public company and manufacturing experience preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Ability to independently analyze detailed information and compile standard and non-standard reports. Understanding of strong internal control systems, able to make recommendations for improvements, carryout changes and monitor the internal control systems. Ability to communicate effectively with senior management, interdepartmentally and externally with vendors, customers, auditors, and others. Proficient in Excel. Working knowledge of other Microsoft-based software (Word, PowerPoint). Proficient with ERP Systems (NetSuite preferred).
