POSITION SUMMARY:

The part-time AmeriCorps Program Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting youth and strengthening both school and out-of-school time communities. This position leads the recruitment, placement, and ongoing support of AmeriCorps Members who serve in local schools and Boys & Girls Clubs, with a focus on helping students develop social-emotional skills, improve academically, and thrive in all areas of life.
By building a strong pipeline of caring, trained adults, this role directly supports the development and delivery of high-impact programming for Boys & Girls Club youth during essential out-of-school hours.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Experience in working with children
  • Knowledge of youth development
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems
  • Ability to deal with the general public (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth
  • Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment
  • Valid State Driver’s License (van drivers only)
  • Ability to work independently, balance priorities, and support both site staff and AmeriCorps Members
  • Knowledge of SEL frameworks, youth engagement strategies, and program design

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE PREFERRED

  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, youth development, social work, or a related field (or equivalent experience) preferred or Hours completed towards an elementary or secondary education degree
  • Experience with AmeriCorps, youth programs, or out-of-school time services preferred
    Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills
