AML Compliance Senior Associate - Contract To Permanent Position Opportunity
Our Client, an SEC-registered investment adviser, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented AML Compliance Senior Associate to join our growing Compliance Team. This role is responsible for executing and enhancing our Regulatory Compliance Program, including Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and financial crime prevention program. You’ll play a key role in protecting the firm from illicit activities while ensuring strict adherence to all applicable laws and SEC regulations.
Key Responsibilities

As a Senior AML Compliance Associate, you’ll be on the front lines of their financial crime defense, with a diverse range of responsibilities that include:

  • Administration: Administer the systems used by the GWA compliance program.
  • Compliance Testing: Assist with the GWA compliance testing program, ensuring compliance with SEC regulations, GWA internal policies, and Holding level requirements.
  • EDDs/Risk Assessments: Assist compliance team in conducting EDD reviews and annual risk assessments to identify potential risks within GWA and related operational improvements. Ensure that operation controls are in place for all key processes and that any control weaknesses are appropriately addressed and escalated.
  • Policies and Procedures Transpositions: Assisting in the drafting, review, and transposition of Compliance policies, procedures, and controls to ensure they are current, comprehensive, and effectively mitigate identified risks. You’ll help translate regulatory requirements into actionable internal guidance.
  • Account Periodic Reviews: Performing regular, risk-based reviews of client accounts to ensure ongoing compliance with KYC standards. This includes verifying client information, updating beneficial ownership details, and re-assessing client risk profiles in accordance with firm policy.
  • Transaction Reviews: Analyzing transactional data for unusual patterns, red flags, and suspicious activities that may indicate money laundering, terrorist financing, or other financial crimes. You’ll investigate alerts, gather supporting documentation, and escalate suspicious activity as needed.
  • Maintaining Firm’s Internal Watchlists: Overseeing the accuracy, completeness, and regular updates of internal watchlists, including lists of high-risk individuals, entities, and jurisdictions. You’ll collaborate with various departments to ensure timely inclusion or removal of names.
  • Special Projects: Participating in and leading various special projects aimed at enhancing our Compliance program, such as system implementations, new product risk assessments, training initiatives, and internal audit responses.
  • Ad Hoc Requests: Responding promptly and accurately to various ad hoc requests from internal stakeholders (e.g., front office, operations, legal) and external parties (e.g., auditors, regulators) related to Compliance as required by business needs.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a basic foundation in Regulatory Compliance, demonstrated by:

  • 3-5 years of experience at a financial institution (BD or RIA preferrable).
  • Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity of U.S. regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), USA PATRIOT Act, and OFAC sanctions programs.
  • Proven ability to conduct thorough investigations, analyze complex data, and make well-reasoned decisions under pressure.
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex risk concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
  • High degree of attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • A strong ethical compass and commitment to upholding the highest standards of compliance.
  • Fluent Spanish required

Perm Salary Range upon Conversion - $95,000 - $110,00
