Description

Piper Companies is hiring multiple Ammonia Facilities Technicians on behalf of a groundbreaking start-up that’s transforming the food industry through advanced biotechnology. This pioneering company is leading the global launch of cultivated meat products—the first of its kind worldwide. As an Ammonia Facilities Technician, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and optimizing facility systems and brand-new state-of-the-art equipment. This is a fully onsite opportunity based in the greater Raleigh area, operating on a 3-3-2 schedule, with both day and night shifts available.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE AMMONIA FACILITIES TECHNICIAN:

  • 3+ years of experience in facility maintenance, ideally within biotech or food production environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of ammonia refrigeration (NH3), HVAC systems, and facility upkeep.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&ID diagrams.
  • Basic experience troubleshooting PLC systems.
  • Familiarity with OSHA 10 standards and GMP practices in the food industry.
  • Willingness to work flexible 12-hour shifts, including nights.
  • Preferred certifications: CARO, CIRO, or CRST.
  • Completion of RETA Level 1 Ammonia Refrigeration certification is required; RETA Level 2 is preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Support the operation and upkeep of ammonia refrigeration systems, ensuring compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) protocols.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to maintain system performance and prevent leaks.
  • Assist with minor troubleshooting and maintenance of HVAC systems.
  • Carry out general facility maintenance, including tasks involving electrical, plumbing, and structural components.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, utilizing appropriate PPE and adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
