Responsibilities

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Paediatric Anaesthesia team as a Consultant Paediatric Anaesthetist, where you will be responsible for:

  • Provision of safe, effective, and efficient anaesthesia in accordance with the relevant standards set by the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
  • Provide anaesthesia for elective and emergency procedures (in-hours and on-call).
  • Ensuring that patients/families are given adequate information upon which to base treatment decision and follow-up.
  • Ensure clear and accurate documentation throughout the anaesthetic process.
  • Provide appropriate post-operative care from anaesthesia through the Post Anaesthesia Care Unit to the ward

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent medical degree
  • Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Health Visiting Medical Specialists Enterprise Agreement.
  • Clinical excellence and extensive experience in the specialty of Paediatric Anaesthesia.
  • Understanding both the rights and responsibilities of patients and their families.
  • Work independently and under limited direction to meet deadlines and achieve agreed outputs.
  • Communicate, both verbally and in writing, to a wide range of people on a range of sensitive and complex issues
