The main purpose of Aalto University’s endowment is to generate annual funding to enable the university to fulfil its strategic goals and support high-quality education, research and innovation. The endowment provides the university with increased financial independence and enhances its funding stability. The capital of the endowment derives from donations and Finnish government capitalisations. In June 2024, the market value of the endowment was approx. EUR 1500 million.
We are now looking for an
Analyst
Aalto University’s investment team manages the university’s global investment portfolio, which is invested across traditional and alternative investments. In this position you will have a chance to work with the head of investments and the portfolio managers to grow as an investment professional and to make an impact by ensuring the university’s sustainable funding. Your role and goals
The role of the Analyst at Aalto University is a unique opportunity to work in a team that manages an endowment-style portfolio with the aim of generating stable and predictable funding to the university. The portfolio is invested into funds across asset classes such as listed equities, private equity, credit and alternative investments. The internal investment team focuses on investment strategy, allocation and external manager selection.

The tasks of the Analyst include:

  • Portfolio analysis covering risk, performance and sustainability aspects
  • Market analysis
  • Assisting the portfolio managers in external manager selection

Your experience and ambitions

  • Completed or nearly completed Master’s degree, preferably in finance or economics.
  • 0-2 years of related experience typically gained with an institutional investor.
  • Strong interest in financial markets and long term investing.
  • Strong Excel skills, VBA and/or Python skills are an asset.
  • High degree of integrity.
  • Strong communication and cooperation skills.
  • Excellent command of English, command of Finnish is an asset.

We work in a hybrid way, with the investment team working closely together mostly on campus, and the primary workplace is Otaniemi, Espoo. Life at the transformed campus is vibrant and filled with amazing architecture, calming nature, and a variety of cafes, restaurants, services along with good public transportation connections.
The recruitment process includes a short video interview, interviews on campus and assessment tests. This is a permanent position starting in April or upon agreement. The starting salary will be between 3700 – 4200 €/month depending on your experience.
