Job Description
The Analyst, Balancing, Collateral and Liquidity Management is responsible for supporting the execution of trades for all transactions in public market securities for the Fund (excluding credit). You will also be accountable for collaborating with the rest of the Trading team to deliver the group’s broader objectives.

TEAM DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a candidate for an Analyst role within the Balancing, Collateral and Liquidity Management (BCLM), a part of the Total Fund Management (TFM) department based in Toronto, Canada. In collaboration with other TFM groups and various departments within the fund, the BCLM group is tasked with maintaining Total Fund exposures via the management of the Balancing Portfolios. Additionally, the group is responsible for monitoring and managing the Fund’s liquidity and leverage positions, and ensuring total Fund positioning aligns with management and board limits.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Assisting in implementing the fund’s leverage goals via secured borrowings such as Equity Swaps, SBL, Cash Prime, and Repo.
  • Fulfilling short locates for our global equity programs through securities lending and synthetic/ cash prime brokerage.
  • Performing daily portfolio management activities including re-rates, dividend monitoring, recalls, and corporate action elections.
  • Managing day-to-day rebalancing and life cycle of Equity Total Return Swaps.
  • Developing and maintaining external relationships across asset classes and regions.
  • Reconcile P&L with investment operations across various portfolios and products.
  • Support creation of weekly/monthly reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Support investment teams with information flow, trade ideas, and data requests.
  • Contribute to projects on various topics including portfolio management, trade execution, market structure and trade opportunities across a global portfolio

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree in relevant field
  • An advanced degree or certification (CFA) is an asset
  • Up to 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated interest in finance, investment management, and/or capital markets
  • Experience with one or more programming languages is an asset (such as R, Python, C++/Java, VBA, Matlab, SQL, etc.)
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Candidates must exemplify CPP Investments’ guiding principles of high performance, integrity, and partnership.
