The City of Edmonton’s Office of the City Clerk is looking for an Analyst to provide essential support across all aspects of council protocol. This role offers the chance to collaborate with local, provincial, national, and international dignitaries, positioning Edmonton as a prosperous and growing region. You will play a vital role in upholding the reputation of the City, the Mayor, and Council during official functions, meetings, and celebrations. We are seeking an innovative problem-solver who can navigate complex, interrelated tasks and perform effectively under constant deadline pressures.

SKILLS REQUIRED FOR SUCCESS:

  • Intermediate knowledge of primary and secondary research methodology, including design, implementation, and analysis
  • Exceptional communication skills, with an ability to convey complex information with clarity and precision
  • Proven project and process management skills, including the ability to effectively gather, synthesize, and analyze data
  • The ability to express complex ideas effectively and persuasively, both verbally and in written form, adjusting communication style for diverse audiences
  • Strong ability to identify, establish, and maintain effective working relationships, resolve conflict, and build consensus
  • Strong political acumen
  • Significant skill and ability in Google Applications (Gmail, Drive, Calendar, etc.) and familiarity with enterprise and non-enterprise IT solutions

Qualifications:

  • A university degree in business administration, public administration, or a related discipline
  • A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in a combination of research and analysis, advanced report writing, and strategic systems-level thinking
  • Project and change management knowledge and experience is require
Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and analyze data to create briefs, reports, and presentations that support executive decision-making
  • Assist with the planning and development of policies and programs, applying project management protocols and templates to support multiple projects concurrently
  • Provide strategic advice to priority projects and initiatives
  • Support the City’s reputation in official functions, including coordinating outbound delegations and providing cultural and protocol advice
  • Assist with the assessment and execution of outbound sponsorship opportunities and international relations
  • Support the development and implementation of strategies to build and manage impactful relationships with key internal and external partners
  • Fulfill support for Council Committees and other high-priority partnership tables as needed
