Description

Company Description
Uncommon Schools is a nonprofit network of high-performing, public charter schools providing an outstanding K-12 education in historically under-resourced communities. We have proudly built schools that reflect our student population, with more than 60% of our teachers and staff across our network identifying as a person of color. Uncommon currently manages 52 schools serving more than 20,000 students in five cities: Boston, Camden, New York City, Newark and Rochester. We are proud that Uncommon graduates persist in and graduate from college at five times the rate of their peers nationally. We achieve this by offering strong academic, co-curricular, and social-emotional learning that prepares students for success in college and beyond.

  • Within applications (SaaS or internally developed) that provide data for business processes, execute the work to prepare inputs, configure instances, build reports, test outputs, and respond to data
  • Create project plans, where relevant, for data processes that account for on-time kickoff, delivery, as well as accurate reporting
  • Prepare and execute end-to-end (spanning multiple environments) data processing and publishing by:
  • Clearly communicating process timelines and expectations to key stakeholders
  • Making, updating, and testing application configuration changes
  • Extracting and preparing inputs for processing via code
  • Quality checking, cleaning, manipulating, and merging data in preparation for reporting and analyses
  • Aid in the design, improvement, and generation of reports and presentations for stakeholders to provide core statistics and insights related to student and school performance
  • Respond to questions from process participants, help to troubleshoot with end users or escalate any broader issues as appropriate
  • Document existing reports and analyses with a focus on replicability and quality control
  • Regularly review data generated through the process and work with other members of the Data & IT team to suggest changes and improvements to the process and tools

Team Support:

  • Provide administrative support to the team where needed (e.g. scheduling recurring team meetings, organizing team knowledge base and project documentation)
  • Commit to growing data skills in order to support the team’s core data reporting & analysis work as a contributor and project team member when needed
