Description
Job Summary Join J.P. Morgan’s Global Equity Research as an Analyst on the Australia Emerging Companies Team, covering high‑growth, small/mid‑cap and pre‑IPO/public crossover companies across Australia and New Zealand. This role is ideal for candidates with a keen interest in markets—those who follow newsflow closely, connect data to price action, and enjoy forming and testing investment hypotheses. You will build and maintain financial models, track catalysts, and produce concise, investment‑relevant research published globally to institutional clients—combining rigorous fundamental analysis with fast, news‑driven execution and close collaboration with sales, trading, and corporate access. Job Responsibilities Build and maintain operating/valuation models (3‑statement, DCF, comps, probability‑weighted scenarios, cohorts) and KPI trackers tailored to emerging companies. Produce earnings previews/reviews, initiations, thematic notes, and rapid event‑driven commentary with clear, actionable takeaways. Monitor ASX/NZX announcements, capital raises, regulatory filings, and industry data; identify catalysts, assess what’s priced in, and run sensitivities/scenarios on key drivers. Create concise dashboards/visuals that surface inflections in growth, margins, liquidity, and funding needs. Prepare client‑ready materials; support corporate access and management meetings; deliver timely, targeted updates to sales and trading. Contribute to cross‑sector/thematic projects; uphold research policies, information barriers, and compliance/risk standards. Utilize AI tools—particularly large language models (LLMs, e.g., Claude)—to accelerate document review, transcript summarization, KPI extraction, and drafting; apply strong prompt design, verification/QA, and source traceability; use only firm‑approved tools and workflows. Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills Strong financial modeling and valuation skills (3‑statement, DCF, trading comps, scenarios/sensitivities) and solid accounting/financial statement analysis. Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with Bloomberg/FactSet/Capital IQ or similar; data/analytics skills (Python/R/SQL, visualization) a plus. Working understanding of AI tools and methods, including LLMs (e.g., Claude), prompt design, summarization, extraction, and QA—used within approved, compliant workflows. Clear, concise written and verbal communication; ability to tailor messages for clients, sales, and trading. Demonstrated passion for financial markets: track newsflow and earnings calendars, link fundamentals to price moves, and iterate views quickly as facts change. Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, engineering, or related field; CFA enrollment/progression a plus. J.P.
