Job Description
Responsibilities
- Actively participate in the day-to-day operations of the fund, including but not limited to, striking a monthly NAV, treasury and operational functions, managing liquidity and overseeing capital transactions;
- Assist with the review of asset valuations and financial models;
- Assist in the onboarding and offboarding of investments including the review of organizational structures, fund flows, purchase and sale agreements, reporting disclosures, etc.;
- Preparation of semi-annual and annual financial statements as well as quarterly reports and supporting schedules in accordance with SEC 40 Act rules, US GAAP and IFRS;
- Assist external auditors and finance team members during semi-annual reviews and annual external audits;
- Liaise with external fund administrators and transfer agents as well as external audit and tax firms;
- Research and interpret new accounting standards/guidelines to assess potential impacts on financial reporting activities;
- Assist with the monthly budgeting process and ad hoc financial planning and analysis requests including presentations on fund performance and operational results;
- Analyze results and data received with skepticism and critical thinking to ensure it meets the appropriate financing reporting requirements and a willingness to challenge others as needed;
- Prepare analyses as part of the fundraising and investor management processes;
- Assist with ad hoc investor relations requests;
- Assist as needed with due diligence related to onboarding distribution partners;
- Modify existing and/or designs new processes that maximize operational efficiency;
- Assist with special projects as required
Qualifications
This position offers an opportunity for growth within the Infrastructure team and wider Brookfield Asset Management group.
To qualify, candidates must have:
- A university degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Completed or working towards completion of recognized professional accounting designation (CPA);
- Six months to one year of work experience in finance and/or accounting functions, with an understanding and familiarity with fund operations and accounting considered an asset;
- Strong business acumen, analytical skills and attention to detail;
- Ability to work in a dynamic, complex, fast-paced environment, to adapt quickly, problem-solve and to manage changing priorities;
- Superior communication skills (oral and written) to convey technical accounting and budgeting issues in a clear and concise manner;
- Ability to locate and collect data from appropriate sources and analyze it to prepare meaningful and concise reports that summarize the information;
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with and build relationships with a diverse group at all levels of the organization;
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines;
- Self-motivated and pro-active, with respect to both managing workload and professional development;
- Financial systems experience is an asset, including advanced Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint capabilities.
