Mō te tūranga | About the Role We are looking for a Financial Crime Controls and Oversight Analyst to join our dedicated team and play a pivotal role in strengthening our Sanctions and AML/CFT (Anti-Money Laundering/Countering Financing of Terrorism) control environment. Reporting to the Senior Manager Financial Crime Controls and Oversight, you’ll support the implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of our financial crime technology and data controls. You’ll bridge the gap between policy and technology, ensuring our systems and processes meet regulatory obligations and risk appetite. Key responsibilities include: Providing subject matter expertise across Sanctions and AML/CFT technology and data. Supporting monitoring and oversight activities, including testing and implementing changes to screening technologies. Managing governance processes required for screening changes, for example screening lists, rules, and filters. Preparing data-driven reports for internal committees and forums. Collaborating with stakeholders across WNZL and Westpac Banking Corporation (WBC) to ensure alignment with regulatory changes. Assisting with policy and procedure updates, compliance monitoring, and team workload management. Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring? Background in model risk, assurance, financial crime, or technology controls. Familiarity with regulatory environments, preferably within banking. Proficiency in Excel and process mapping tools. Excellent communication skills and the ability to simplify complex issues. A proactive, independent approach with sound decision-making skills. Strong attention to detail and a focus on accuracy. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under pressure. Collaborative mindset with strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills. Outcome-focused and willing to go the extra mile.
