Responsibilities

THE ROLE

In this role, you’ll help deliver crucial activities across four areas, including:

  • Project identification and development
  • Identifying infrastructure projects that support Scotland’s national priorities and economic growth objectives
  • Working with your team, wider organisational teams, and external partners – such as government agencies and private sector stakeholders – to co-develop funding strategies
  • Spotting and analysing gaps in the commercial viability of proposed projects, especially where risks may limit private sector involvement
  • Contributing to the design of innovative funding and financing models, such as blended finance, to unlock investment in strategically important projects
  • Supporting the development of ambitious, credible, and scalable investment proposals that attract both public and private capital and are aligned with Scotland’s economic development goals
  • Conducting feasibility assessments by gathering technical, financial, and regulatory information
  • Coordinating with internal teams and external partners to support project development and prepare documentation
  • Contributing to business cases, financial models, and investment materials to support investment proposals.
  • Investor relations
  • Keeping investor contact details and engagement records up to date
  • Helping organise investor meetings and communications and making sure follow-up actions and documentation are completed on time
  • Gathering market intelligence on investor trends and preferences to help shape how projects are positioned
  • Preparing briefing materials and presentations for investor meetings
  • Sharing ideas, research, and insights to help strengthen investor engagement strategies
  • Supporting the wider team in investor engagement activities, including attending face-to-face meetings as needed
  • Supporting introductions and investor visits
  • Coordinating the practical arrangements for investor visits, including scheduling meetings, organising site access, and working with stakeholders
  • Helping to prepare meeting agendas, briefing materials, and site tour plans to ensure smooth and productive visits
  • Promotional events and activities
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of promotional activities, such as networking events and conferences
  • Assisting with the creation of promotional materials and presentations designed for infrastructure investment audiences

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

You’ll also play a role in supporting the wider team by:

  • Showing positive behaviours that promote teamwork, collaboration, and a solutions-focused approach
  • Following our organisation’s policies on CRM use, ensuring data is accurately analysed and management reports are prepared as needed

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • A genuine interest in spotting, developing, and promoting infrastructure investment opportunities that support Scotland’s national development goals
  • Experience in the capital markets or financial sector
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels
  • Great attention to detail
  • Solid financial understanding, along with strong numeracy and analytical skills relevant to assessing capital investment opportunities in private markets
  • Excellent ICT skills, with working knowledge of online creative tools
  • The ability to perform well under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • A proactive approach, taking ownership of your responsibilities and actions
  • A good understanding of Scottish Enterprise’s wider objectives and how economic development principles are applied in projects and programmes
  • A qualification at SCQF level 8 in a relevant subject, or equivalent relevant experienc
