POSITION SUMMARY:

Under direction of Laboratory Manager, the Analytical Chemist performs laboratory analysis, microbial analysis, maintains inventory level of reagents and supplies, conducts sample preparation, and assists in receiving inspections and sample retention.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the Quality System processes present for identification, sampling, and retention of raw materials. Following approved procedures analyze raw material on receiving inspection.
  • Maintains documentation for the purpose of quality records.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation according to established procedures. Performs standardization and routine maintenance on instruments as assigned.
  • Assists in validations of laboratory instruments as assigned.
  • Remains up to date on microbiology laboratory applications to include changes/enhancements in technology, standards, and research studies.
  • Responsible for microbial and analytical testing.
  • Analyzes raw material actives by established testing criteria.
  • Responsible for Stability Testing.
  • Ensure that stability testing is completed in accordance with the stability schedule.

EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING:

Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field.

EXPERIENCE:

Experience in laboratory procedures and processes required.
Industry experience in cosmetic manufacturing preferred.

KNOWLEDGE:

Knowledge of United States Pharmacopeia standards preferred
Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices preferred

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Excellent organizational skills.

Excellent written communication skills including writing, editing, and proofreading.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle multiple projects.
